It’s been really hot this summer, started getting our July temps way back in May and now here is the forecast for July 28- Aug 6.

Has not rained here since late spring, I’ve sat on the porch at home and watched the storms split and go around our little town of West, Texas.

So let’s see who has the corniest jokes or ‘can you beat this forecast’?

A buddy out of Longview Tx. said he’d killed a mosquito that was carrying a canteen.

A man in Dime Box Tx. said the chicken farmers were giving the chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.

In Lake Palestine Tx. , they caught a 20 lb catfish that had ticks on it!

But just this week, in Bryan Tx., a fire hydrant was seen bribing a dog.

It’s so dry in Texas that the Baptists are starting to baptize by sprinkling, the Methodists are using wet-wipes, the Presbyterians are giving out rain-checks, and the Catholics are praying for the wine to turn back into water.

Wow. The forecast here in Oregon is more along the lines of what is forecast as your lows. Sucks to be that hot out there!

Wow, I’m melting just by looking at that forecast! This is why I keep telling my sister-in-law that we’ll never visit her in Austin between May and September.

Those temps look very similar to what we have here in AZ, your lows are cooler than ours though

Here in Washington right now, we are getting 3 different types of weather:

                  (in specific order)

                  Rain rain rain rain rain
                  Cloudy Cloudy Cloudy Cloudy
                  sun.

                  We haven’t gotten much sun.

                  I like the cool weather

Yikes! I heard that all the states experienced record high’s in July. Ontario just hit a record high too at 50C.

I’m very relieved that this summer is way less hot and humid than last year. Last summer I spent the whole time worried that my buns and horse were too hot. This summer has been nice. We had a late start to summer. All of June felt like Spring so it’s hard to believe that summer is over half over. Now we have the odd hot, humid day but it’s been staying low to mid 20’s C. Very comfortable. We’ve been getting a lot of rain and thunderstorms too.

                      Cool pic I found~

                      Check out the sun-nomming action!

My bf lives in Texas and has been telling me about how bad the drought has gotten there, sounds awful.

Here in Virginia the weather here has been unbearable too. Our heat index is in triple digits and we’ve been under and extreme heat advisory almost every day for the past few weeks. I wouldn’t mind the heat so much if it wasn’t so humid, I hate walking outside and sweating within minutes

It’s 71 and windy here right now with strong sun. I so do not miss Texas summers. The highs this week are between 75-80. When it reaches the 80s here, the sun is ridiculously strong though, and makes it feel at least 5 degrees hotter.

I used to visit eastern Tennessee in the summer and while it only got in the 90’s you literally couldn’t breath for the humidity so I guess I prefer to be pan-fried here in Texas than poached somewhere else   😉 I want to go live with Rachel and Frankie!

New news! Thanks to the hurrican that wasn’t, we now have revised forecasts for the coming week…….HOTTER!

I’ve luckily been traveling in somewhat cooler climes for most of the time since May (which means I haven’t been on BB very much ) but I’m sooo not looking forward to going back to roast in the Texas heat…

At least your buildings are prepared for heat… a lot of houses here were built without air conditioners and when it’s warm outside, the rooms turn into heat traps! My room upstairs is like 90 degrees right now (it’s 80 with hot sun outside). And the HOA doesn’t allow window units. Ugh.

In california, it should be illegal to not allow AC units.

Well we can do any that are an “eyesore”. So no window units. I do have a plug-in area one with a little tube I crack out my window in a single room. It’s that or spend thousands to have AC installed in the house.
