Can’t help but be worried about the little donation box on the home page. I certainly hope everyone donates so the site will stay up for a long time to come. BB is such a happy little world for me! ![]()
I just saw that upon logging in this morning. I’ve been a member on other forums that had a donate box. Forums do cost quite a bit of money to operate. For a long time, the profits from the store were enough to maintain the forum. And then awhile back, ads were introduced to supply some revenue. This is another logical way to support the forum. I do hope members will be willing to give something, even a few dollars.
I open direct to the forums so I wouldn’t have seen this. Thanks for mentioning it LPT.
I’ll happily donate to support this site!
dittos jerseygirl, I wouldn’t have seen it either, thanks for the alert! mine will be a happy donation too.
I will definitely make a donation. I hope members who can afford to will also. Our rabbits would not lead the lives they do if it were not for the information we get from the website
I didn’t see it either! I don’t have much (who does!? xD) but I’ll drop in what I can!
I open to this page too, so I’m glad you spotted it and mentioned it here, LPT.
BB was thinking about doing this recently, and I’m glad she has. It’s really, really helpful to offset the costs of the site. Store sales help a lot, but that’s always a juggling act to keep the right things in stock and available and not overstock. Always feel free to email her in the Message Center if you want a particular item and it’s showing out of stock. She may know when it’s coming in, and there’s an alert button that will email you when any item is back in stock.
It would really be helpful for you guys to make a donation, but she is so discreet that she didn’t announce it, or want anyone to feel pressured or obligated. She wants to be able to help everyone, especially when many members can use the advice and can’t get it anywhere else.
So I will advocate for her here, as a terrific provider of such wonderful information. Let her get mad at me. So there!
Thanks you guys.
P.S. If you scroll down below the quick reply submit button, there’s a new box on this page with a message and a donate button. Looks like it’s getting on the Forum pages too. Yea!
I need more willow toys… so this week’s paycheck or next, it will be happening ![]()
I noticed it late late last night, after I had read everything and there was no new topics to read. And there it was, all innocent and giving me those woeful baby bunny eyes….
Hi Everyone — I have been putting off the donation button for months now. I don’t really like the idea. But we are struggling and I have relunctantly surrendered to the idea. The forum, the galleries, webcams (when they are back up), the website in general…all of it does cost us both $$ and time. (and time is money too). Though we save alot doing our own tech work, we still have to buy modules and have it hosted and updated, pay for security, etc.
We started advertising, but it is just our own ads and some google ads. We don’t make much at all from that — more just to guide people to our store or to click on google ads. The store was doing well in paying for everything until this year when gas prices went up and shipping prices went up. (and summer is always slow) And with larger competitors offering free or low shipping, this can hurt us too. So we have found ourselves for the first time since BinkyBunny started a bit too tight. I doubt that we would ever be at risk for ending BB though so don’t worry. (however it is important to keep our site updated and secure and that has to happen in order for the site to stay up.) But also we would be limited with what we could offer. For example, we have a huge update coming up and we wouldn’t be able to keep adding to and improving the site if we can’t afford to do it. I wouldn’t be able to moderate the forum, or update the information on the site. It would just be like an old run down building that no one wanted to visit anymore.
If things pick up and we no longer need to ask for support, we will take down the donate button and only use it again if and when things get tight.
In the meantime, I really don’t want any of you to feel pressured to buy from our store or donate. If you can, it’s greatly appreciated, but if you can’t we certainly understand…believe me…we know. That’s why I have not mentioned it — I really don’t want anyone to feel any kind of pressure.
I about had a flippin’ heart attack when I saw this thread title! 0_o;;;
There’s a donation box?? 0_0
Honestly, I was thinking with all the stuff I had been ordering from BB.com I was keeping the site afloat all by my lonesome! ^_^ lolz…I’d be happy to donate too though. After all, SAB runs on donations, and BB.com is just as helpful with advice as SAB is with fostering bunnies…why shouldn’t we be able to donate to the site? Just about every site I belong to has some kind of donation option.
I admire your modesty regarding this, BB, but I do believe it’s a very good idea to help keep the site running in tip top condition.

Can we really ask for something specific to order from the store? For example, with how the bunnies are powering through the Oxbow meadow hay, this would be something I could go for as being a monthly shipment type of thing that automatically charges to my account. Often times I come in just before I’m through my last bag and the item is already sold out. I wonder if it would be easier to stock for you if you are sure someone is going to need a certain amount of bales every month.
Just a thought.
There’s no way I’d want BB.com to go away. It’s essential to my bunnies’ health and well-being!
I’m going to need to order some orchard grass soon. Little miss Monkey has been snubbing the RA orchard lately… but goes bonkers for the BB stuff.
And more pellets. Squirrel should have been named Piglet.
I’ll be posting the store link on my “Disapproving Diva” blog to try to help out ![]()
I like the idea of a donation button!! This site/forum is the BEST source of bunny information I’ve found! And everyone is so welcoming here and actually cares about the other members, you don’t see that a lot. BB you are always active on the forums and it’s wonderful!!
I don’t know what I would have done with Tait without this place!!
I’m going on vacation soon, so I hope the button is still up when I come back so I can donate ![]()
It’s essential to my bunnies’ health and well-being!
BB is also essential to MY health and well-being! ![]()
MM,
That’s a good suggestion and I’ve just brought it to BB’s attention so she can consider if it’s possible.
It is a possibility…MM, can you email Jennifer directly about that and she will look into when she gets back into town.
Helloworld!!
