  Hey, me again! So, we were wondering, is it ok to give bunny those little hard corn treats? They are like mini corn on the cobs with hard kernals. Thanks!
  
  Also, bunny still doesnt like carrots, but loves lettuce :o) He eats cabbage too but I don’t give him much of that.

  Ive heard corn isnt a good treat for rabbits because its difficult for them to digest and can cause blockage, so I myself avoid it. as treats I usually stick with craisins or apples. My boy bunny Cady is extremely picky and he loves them both, another treat he goes crazy for is papaya.

  Stuff at the pet store is not very safe for rabbits.
  
  I don’t trust pet stores at all, unless it is dried papaya or Oxbow treats.
  
  I just buy a bag of craisins and my bunny loves it. Although, you will need to only give one. Rabbits will beg, and it is best to practice self control or else bunny can become obese.
  
  My rabbit doesn’t like carrots either, so I don’t buy carrots. She gets romaine and cilantro.

  For treats, my bunnies get the occasional apple slice (no seeds), banana bite, or strawberry top. They also get dried papaya once in a while if I’m not eating fresh fruit.

  Tillie will chase me around the room for raisins, craisins, Oxbow Barley Biscuits, apples or banana. Of course all of those are given in very limited amounts.

  Thanks, yea this is all pet store stuff. They also have these little orange slice things, he really likes those, here is a link. Stop with these too? lol

  Iceberg is definitely not okay. Romaine, Red Leaf, Green Leaf is fine. No Iceberg – it has absoutely no nutrients in it for rabbit.

  I’ve printed the list for the next time I head to the grocery store. Now, in reality, sometimes people can overreact or be overly cautious. In regards to the lettuce, I can understand if it has no nutritional value, but is it actually bad for him to eat it? Is there something in the iceburg that makes it unhealthy? I ask only because he enjoys it so much, if it doesn’t actually harm him, I don’t mind feeding it to him every now and then. There are alot of foods that provide zero nutritional info for humans but are not unhealthy, yet we eat them all the time. The free calorie foods. Anyhow, thanks for the info thus far.

  Part of the problem also with iceberg lettuce is the fact that if they fill up on it, they get no nutrients. Just better to feed somethign like romaine or greenleaf. Buns go nutty for all sorts of veggies, he won’t miss iceberg at all

  Ive read rabbits are creatures of habit. So I think I’ll just start going through the list and finding ones he really enjoys, and stick to those. I’m going to start with the vitamin A fruits/veges so I can find out which he prefers or doesn’t prefer. Interesting I don’t see cabbage on the list, the vet actually advised that too. I checked for an oxbow vet around my area but there isnt one for about 25 miles. Bummer.

  Cabbage can often cause gas in bunnies, which is a bad thing. Same with brussel sprouts.

  Well, I think there are some nutrients in Iceberg, just not the same amount as in other lettuces. And the way it is farmed as far as water content to pesticides as Dana Krempels stated in her answer above is part of the reason why it’s not the best lettuce you can feed your rabbit but it’s not without some value. Poor old iceberg lettuce gets such a bad rap LOL.

  I wouldn’t give up on veggies. Some rabbits will just continue snubbing a certain one, and they’ll take a bite out of it and love it. Some may not like it all. My rabbit won’t even eat carrot. I’ve tried spinach, but she just chewed and spit it out, lol.

  Not sure on the citrus treats… i do know that buns dont need additional vitamin C added to their diets. Honestly, I would stick to nice simple things like raisins or craisins or fresh veggies Cheaper too

  I don’t see that product but why not just a fresh piece of orange rather than a citrus treat…alot of rabbits like oranges and it would be good for them because it’s natural.

  Another option is dehydrated, sugar-free fruit for people. This can be found in most grocery stores in the produce area or in health food stores. And since it’s not marketed for animals, it’ll probably be a good bit cheaper. As with any treats/fruit, the amount should be limited to just a small bit each day.
