Pearl is an outside bun, but I take her inside for about an hour a day to let her run around, but whenever I go to take her out of her cage she starts to whimper, and as i go to pick her up she gets louder but as soon as she is in my arms she stops. Why is this? Does she not trust me?

The space that I let her go in is the living room which is fairly large, she’ll come up to me sometimes but wont let me touch her too offten. But when she is in her cage she LOVES when I pet her face and behind her ears. How can I get her to let me touch her more, and to come up to me more when she is inisde?

One more thing, When she is in she goes to one certian spot and scratches at the carpet?

Bunnies don’t like to be picked up- it can be pretty scary for them so maybe that is why she is whimpering. She probably does not come to your for attention as she is not comfortable/confident enough to do so. Why don’t you keep her inside? That will get her more confident with you and you will be able to avoid picking her up and she will probably learn to seek you out for attention more.

There is something on the carpet that she really likes and wants to dig. Rabbits love digging. Maybe she needs a nice fleece blanket (make sure she does not ingest it) or a towel to dig in.

Bunny sounds fearful of you and not used to her surroundings when she is put into another place. My rabbit dislikes being held, even for grooming.

Have you considered any indoor housing for your rabbit? Her true personality will blossom and she will learn to trust you a lot more if you were around.

Sounds like she just likes to dig!

For the whimpering, it’s possible she doesn’t like being picked up, as most bunnies hate it. Can you try putting a carrier at the door of her cage and seeing if she’ll jump in? Hannah haaaates being picked up, but will happily climb in a carrier most of the time if I need to move her around.

When she’s out and running around she might just be too curious and excited to get pets. My Hannah loves to be petted, but when she’s in exploring mode she isn’t interested and just wants to run around. You’ll just have to wait until she’s calmer and see if she’ll let you pet her then.
