Oreo has outsmarted my bunny proofing efforts! I decided to use under bed storage boxes to prevent her from hiding under my bed in case I need to catch her in an emergency. I have all under my bed blocked off by boxes and then used wire mesh to fill in the spaces between the boxes and the wall. I spent a whole 15 minutes being proud of my handiwork before Oreo realized she can fit between the boxes and navigate under my bed like a maze!!!! The boxes have a teeny gap between them because of the lids and so instead of preventing her from going under my bed, I just built her a new tunnel system

Any other good stories out there of being outsmarted by a bunny?

          Hahahaha!

Lolli figured out before I got her bonded to Eddie that one of the cage locks I used to attach her pen to her cage was weak. These are the cage locks that you used to be able to buy off Drs Foster and Smith. I don’t know if they still carry them or not. So one day, I’m laying on the couch watching tv. I was on medical leave for my neck surgery so I was home with them all day. And Eddie starts hopping in a little area, eyes bugging out. So I ask him what his problem was and Lolli promptly hops across the living room as she had popped the lock open by putting pressure on the pen. “Mom! Mom! MOM!!!! THE GIRL IS LOOSE!!!!” LOL So I put Eddie in his pen and get Lolli back into hers about a half hour later due to failed attempts at rangling her. Let Eddie back out, sit down, am typing on another site about the incident when…..SHE DOES IT AGAIN!!! LOL This time, I find a shoe string and when I finally get her back into her pen, I tied her little butt in there. She still tried to get out but that pen wasn’t popping open again! I think I switched the lock out with one on Eddie’s pen as he was not the brightest crayon in the box. But once I blocked them from my bedroom, he was RIGHT THERE every chance he got to try and get in!

At my last apartment, Kate decided that she really liked to nibble my boyfriend’s dvds, it was actually really funny, she would grab the ones that were either not unwrapped by the little plastic edges or the ones that had those cardboard sleeves and pull them out, it looked like she was requesting movies. So we pushed some boxes up against the case. Well, it turned out that there was just enough room for her to still squeeze through and then she would hide back there and nibble. So we covered the shelf with a sheet as well. She pulled the sheet out and snuck behind it. So we finally ended up having to pull the shelf out, tuck the sheet in between the wall and the shelf, and push the shelf back. But everytime we watched something and the sheet didn’t get tucked all the way in again, she always snuck back in. The little sheet covered shelf and the boxes made a fun tunnel that they both hung out in and Katie used it as a base to launch her sneak attacks of trying to get in the office. The bunnies always win somehow in the end, it’s a fact of life.
Spencer is more stubborn but a bit less clever than Katie. He figured out that if he rammed his head repeatedly like a little billy goat into the area that the x-pen opened that he could open the door and escape.

When I first got Cady I had a bed frame on my bed, which we bunny guarded by using the metal fencing you would use in your yard to keep animals out, and on top of that I blocked behind all the dressers and under them with sheets and anything I could find…..well one night me and my boyfriend had a wedding and were staying overnight so my friend stayed and bunnysat for me…. some how the little bunny magician got under the bed and I got a very frantic phone call at 1:30 in the morning that should couldnt find him, so in my wisdom of bunny sneakiness I told her to look under the bed, to this day she cant get over being outsmarted by a rabbit.

as an add-on up until 2 days ago I used sheets to block under the bed, well I dont know which bunny figured out that with enough digging and pulling the sheet can be moved and cady can get under te dresser, the team effort is amazing

When Gabby was oficially allowed to be free range in all rooms but our bedrooms she was constantly trying to get in my daughter’s room. She figured out the door latch wouldn’t catch right and she could stand up and push against the door to open it. Then I put some grids in front of it and she would stand up, push the door open, then jump over the grids to get in her room. My husband had to fix the door because we couldn’t keep Gabby out of there any way else.
