         My bunny is a female and has always been well behaved and very consistent with using her litter box, and she is trained. Lately we’ve taken her on vacations where she has been before (and done very well litter box usage and all), but now she is not going in her litter box and she knows where it is. We let her choose the corner she wanted to go in but now she is going in many, including her litter box. She is already neutered/spayed and has been chewing cords more and she has chewing blocks to keep her teeth down. Why is she suddenly acting up? Tips please if you have any or any books/articles would be amazing.

          She sounds like she is being a bunny. Some will act up for some reason or another, some just.. do. I would suggest rabbit proofing areas you do not want her going into. Those cords need to be put away, as at anytime, any cord can electricute her and potentally harm her I use neat idea grids and zip ties to block off areas I don’t want my bunny to be in.

          Does she get enough hay?

            Okay thanks I’ll look at those. Yes she gets her hay bowl refilled every night and morning and I give her Timothy hay.

            Thanks for the help!

              Oh, also her cage is in my room and in the middle of the night she starts thumping rapidly, she never used to do this and I was wondering is she just dreaming or is there something she is consciously scared of?

                Maybe you are giving her too much room (if there is such a thing)? Often when I introduce a bunny to a new room or a new area of the house they haven’t been in they start to mark, like they are marking what’s theirs because of exposure to new smells. She will probably settle down when she gets accustomed to things.

                  Maybe even though she has been to that particular place before, she doesn’t remember it and you have changed her routine. Rabbits really like a routine and sometimes changes stress them out and can cause these changes in behavior. Is the thumping in the new place? If so, something could have startled her or she is hearing sounds that aren’t yet familiar to her.

                    She has been sleeping in the same place when we visit the mountain house and has just started thumping. But we started having the windows open because of summer and she sleeps right under it so maybe smells she aren’t used to yet are coming in.

                      Rabbits can hear things that we humans cannot hear. My rabbit sometimes will thump for no reason to warn me, but most of the time, it is because she is annoyed and wants me to pet her. I have seen the difference o_O;;

                        Open window, mountains… thumping could definitely be a warning about a predator. The windows have screens, right?

                          Yeah the windows are screened and we’re on a pretty high building
