That’s very possible. My bunny likes the wall to wall carpet in our new(ish) home that runs through 2 rooms and a hallway. But she Hates tile. She never, ever sets foot on it. And I bought her a low pile area rug on the tile that abuts the carpet – she won’t walk on that either. However, she would walk on her baby blanket that I set on top of the area rug on top of the tile (that lived in the house that Jack built).
Bunnies + flooring = fickle. You just never know.
Also, a 6 year old is pretty mature, and adults tend to like their habits, comfort zones, and don’t explore as much as when they were young. I think once he established a territory where he felt safe and happy, he got content to remain in that area. Unless he’s getting fat from lack of exercise, I’d let him be where he likes it. You can try throwing a soft blanket across the wood floor though, in case he’s like my Samantha and tippy toes onto it.
