This week I went away for the first time since getting my bunnies in January- except the odd one day absence- and they’re really stroppy with me! Cassie, who is usually pretty affectionate and loves giving kisses, wouldn’t come near me.

Bo is a bit of a grumpy bun anyway, so not that much change. Is there anything I can do? Darling flatmate/landlord told me the night before I left that they had to be caged (they’re usually given the run of my room) so I attached cage panels to the sides of my bed, so they’d have space and shade. (They refused to go in the cage.) Because of the late notice I couldn’t get a rabbit sitter to let them out and play with them, though flatmate did put food and water in for them daily.

Will they just get over it eventually? They’re usually really quick to forgive me, but I’ve been back 24 hours and they’re not happy with me at all. Thanks!

          Let them be

They will get over it I was away for 4 days, and when I got home, I got the bunny butt, no kisses, thumps, footflicks…

She got over it in a day.

They will get over it. Just stick to the routine they had before – animals like a routine – they need to know what to expect so as not too become anxious.

Yeah, they’ll get it over it. Might take them a few days. Eddie was my grumpy butt. Didn’t like anything changing and once it took him about a week to fully get over me being gone once. Just get back to a routine with them and give them some time. They’ll come around.

Thanks for the reassurance! I got a couple of kisses earlier, and I’ve been doing a lot of grovelling!

Haha, they’re rabbits … do you expect them to NOT take advantage of a drama queen opportunity?

But yeah, animals always forgive after sufficient begging.

Ha, exactly! My female’s a BIG drama queen. The male seems to just give her the ‘ok dear’ treatment and sneak off somewhere to flop, unless she TELLS him they are peeved. I like to think this particular strop means they love me… or my food bringing abilities at least!
