Ok so I’m new here and would love some good information! My fiance and I bought a rabbit a few months ago he is 5 months old now, neutered and all. We then about a month and a half ago bought a new rabbit, a female and she is now 3 months old. We got the second rabbit to bond with the other so they could keep each other company and play etc. The only times we’ve put them together have been heavily supervised and all the older bigger 5 month old male wants to do is hump. This was actually prior to the neutering tho and he has now been neutered for a month. A few times since the neutering we have put them out with a pen in between and what happens is they sniff each other through it and one of them will bite on the pen and accidently bite the other and the clawing/scratching through the cage begins and we quickly pull them apart and call it a day. Also another problem is the male is literally 2 and a half times bigger than the girl so when we DID have them together pre neuter (over a month ago) we felt bad that she was being humped, although she could wiggle out of his grasp very easily cause of how small she is. I didn’t mean for this post to be so long but I would really appreciate some help on when we should start and what exactly to do. All I know as of know is we should wear gloves incase they bite or hump faces and also do the bonding in a neutral area. By the way the male is some sort of mini rex/netherland dwarf mix, we don’t really know for sure and I will post a picture later in another post for some 1 to tell us, and the girl is a lionhead. Thanks so much.

Wait until your girl is spayed. She will get aggressive and territorial as her hormones make their appearance, and that just wouldn’t be pretty. She can be spayed around 6 months, and then wait a month after to start bonding.

Yep, I agree with MB – bonding will be much easier when everybody’s hormones have settled down.
