So there’s a chance Zeus and I will be moving!  Exciting!

However, the bedroom would be considerably smaller.  I’d really prefer Zeus to stay in the bedroom with me, as I like being near him at night if anything were to happen (he gets sick and needs to be monitored, or whatever).  I also love waking up to a bunny staring me in the face through his cage. .

So I may end up having to switch to a multi-story cage.  Can anyone post some ideas for me, of VERY spacious, attractive, multi-story cages?  I’d be willing to spend up to $300 or so if it was impressive enough.  It’d have to at LEAST be 12 square feet, as that’s about how large his current enclosure is, and I won’t reduce that.  It’d also have to work for a large bun, so the holes between floors would have to be generously sized for a giant breed.

Ideas?  I was even thinking of an outdoor hutch, as they make some gorgeous ones, and just use it inside.. but I’m not sure. I need help!

          This is a gorgeous setup:

          http://www.walmart.com/ip/Super-Pet-Rabbit…8/14100923

It has a wire floor inside, but it looks like it may just be on the first floor, I could cover that with tiles or linoleum.  It’s approximately the same square footage as his current cage.

I do not know how much space you have exactly, but I know of two bunny condos that are under $300 that come in two different sizes that you may like… I’m not sure how big your bun is either, or if it would be able to work for Zeus… BUT here they are:

I’ve been looking at these bunny condos for a while now, they look so sturdy and good. Also, they have two three level ones, measuring out to be the same length… But they’re a little over $300.

Have you thought of making your own cage out of NIC cubes it would probably be cheaper and the great thing about making it yourself is you can personalise it so it suits your space needs and Zeus’ needs to.

Here is a link http://www.rabbitcondo.com/condo-details and if you click on the habbitats section on information section of Binky Bunny it will give you some ideas.

You could also put in rabbit condo in google and it will come up with lots of pictures of different sizes/styles to give you ideas.

the leith condos are decent, but a pain to clean. And too expensive. It would be better to build your own for that price

I’m not sure the ones you linked would work for Zeus, as the description seemed to find of hint it’s for the medium to small bun.  Zeus is, from my best guess, either a French Lop or French Lop/Mini Lop cross, weighs 10lbs, and is approximately 3 ft long or so when stretched out.  He’s the size of a small cat.   Also for the price, I could get the one I linked, and it’s prettier. .

Thanks for the input though, I really appreciate it!

I have thought of this, but I’m thinking it’d need some pretty serious reinforcing to support the big boy bun on multiple levels.  I’m not sure I could make a sturdy enough NIC cage that’s as tall and large as I want.  Maybe a NIC/wooden parts combo though?  Hmm..

Can you just let him be free range in your room? For a large bun, that is often better than a vertical-space cage.

I actually hadn’t thought of that!  Since it’ll no longer be a rental, that might be a possibility!

I would also go with free range if you can, otherwise try the garden waste storage cubes that are larger and a lot more stable.

You’d have to check out hardware places like Home Depot or Lowes for them, if we even have them in the states. They are like giant NIC grids. I haven’t seen them though

Check AV’s recent threads in Habitats Forum for pic. It is the specific name for them here at a store in Australia. I just did a search using term “wire bin composter” and found some similar things. So search using that term or something similar. Looks like they retail for $50-60 dollars.

That great pen you got for him, can you reconfigure that in any way? I think you said it assembles with no tools needed but can you take the panels apart?

I agree about the free range idea though - so much easier!

Unfortunately the “frame” of his pen is all one continuous piece, so it can’t really be reconfigured.  However, looking at it, I bet my dad could easily cut it apart a bit with a saw and put it back together in a longer, narrower design.. hmm…

I really would hate to not be able to use his current pen, it’s gorgeous and works so nicely!  With any bit of luck, the pen will fit in the room and I won’t have to worry about it at all.  Technically the room is large enough square footage-wise, but I’m just not sure if it’ll realistically all fit in there with room to still walk around.

Yeah, Zeus greets me every morning by staring at me expectantly around the time he thinks I need to wake up. .  I even have proof, I took this from my bed in the morning:
