I did a search before I posted this question and could not find anything. What do you all use to cover your electrical cords? I am in the process of Tillie-proofing our game room and that is the last thing to be done. Thanks!

I don’t use cord covers. I use nic (neat idea cubes) grids with zipties to surround cords with. It looks ugly, but I’m sure glad that my bunny doesn’t get into stuff like that.

Pet shop cord covers tend to be really expensive, so I would try an electronics store like fye (I’ve seen it there, for not a bad price at all), and put a little perfume on it Cord covers won’t deter rabbit away from chewing on it, unless there is something else on the covers as well. My bunny hates the smell of perfume.

We use something like this: http://www.amazon.com/American-Terminal-SL500-100-2-Inch-Tubing/dp/B0017686ZC/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1308805875&sr=8-9. It has a slit on the side so you can easily wrap it around wires.

Like ChaCha said, covers won’t discourage chewing – it only provides an extra layer of protection. So while cord covers are definitely a great idea for bunny-proofing, be sure to check them once in a while to make sure Tillie hasn’t made a project of one and chewed her way through it.

I got what peppypoo linked to, I can’t remember if it was that specific brand. But it was cheap and I have a TON left over. It’s not very pretty and it’s noisy if you step on it, but it works. Mine aren’t much for cord chewing anyway, I’m sure if they were determined that they could get through it. It also has the bonus of keeping your cords untangled.

I try to cover things with NIC grids most of the time – there are a million wires behind the tv and in one corner of our living room, so I just blocked both of those areas off so I don’t have to get a million cord covers.

For single cords I don’t want to block off (like a lamp) I use plumbing tubing from the hardware store that I cut down the length. I bought similar tubing that was citrus scented to deter bunnies, but the tubing at the hardware store is cheaper. The bunnies have nibbled on it once or twice and could chew through it if they really tried, but they don’t really go for wires so it just prevents them from hurting themselves with one hard nibble on bare wire.

I uses NIC grids around our TV because there are a ton of wires, but I just need something for the single lamps. I will check Lowes and HD. I am sure I can find something. Thanks everyone!

Radioshack carries them too. That’s where HJ got his.

I got tiny hooks at Target (those kind with the adhesive stuff that removes from the wall?), and hooked the cords up higher on the wall. But Riley is older and over his cord chewing stage. When he was younger, I went to Home Depot and found some electrical covers (black corregated plastic), and used that to cover the cords as well.
