  Ok, now…. we are wondering if it is location so much as cage.
  
  As posted in my other thread, we put Bun-Bun back in his cage and removed the hutch because we thought he hated the hutch. He spent the weekend with the cage sitting on the daycare table by the front door because I was cleaning up the hardwood floors and wall where his hutch had been. He was happy and busy, digging, playing with toys, standing up and checking things out, etc.
  
  Moved his cage over yesterday morning to where the hutch was because I need the daycare table for the daycare kids. He ate and pooped and groomed but still spent most of the day sitting there.
  
  So, when the kids left last night… we moved his cage back over by the front door just to see. He perked up, started checking things out, eating, digging, moving around, etc.
  
  So….. we are now thinking it could be location and maybe not so much as cage. Or it could be the hutch AND where it was located.
  
  So…. he will hang in the cage for the week and we will continue to move it back and forth and observe.
  
  Friday, when I am off ….. I am thinking that we bring the hutch back in and reassemble it in the location by the front door and see if THAT was the issue. Give it the weekend and see.
  
  Do your bunnies prefer one area over another?

  Sophie gave me the cold shoulder like crazy last week. All night, if I walked by she turned her back to me in that “in case you haven’t noticed, I’m displeased with you” way. Offered treats, pets, left her alone, nothing. She wouldn’t even come out. Then I finally moved her cage from the living room, where I’d put her with the ceiling fan on during the hot day, back into my office, where she usually is. All was forgiven INSTANTLY. Hopped out, nosed me hello, binkyed around like she didn’t even know what attitude was.
  
  So short answer… yeah, I’d say so.

  That is what I thought.
  We had a chameleon and had her by the front door. We liked it. She didnt like it, etc. We thought that maybe the cool air, etc. got to her.
  We moved her to where Bun-Bun’s cage is(the dreaded corner) and she perked up and loved it. It was a snugger corner, by the action of people coming and going from kitchen to living room, etc. So with her, it was location.
  She passed away at the beginning of the month from old age and we chose not to replace her, then we aquired Bun-Bun and decided to put his cage OR hutch in that corner. Gets lots of attention from kids and adults coming and going from kitchen, etc.
  But…. now with his behavior change from each spot…… we will likely be moving living room around and putting his cage or hutch there. A chair and bookshelf occupies that spot currently.
  I still think he likes the cage better though. More open and he has better visibility plus it has a door on the top which makes it easier for any of us to stop, pop it open and give him loves. The hutch has doors in the front but you have to bend over and reach in to pet him. I am the shortest person in my house. Hubby and oldest son(14) are 6’4″ and youngest son(13) is almost 6′ so not the easiest thing to bend over to about 30 inch height and reach in to pet the bunny.

  If you chose to do some kind of modifications to the hutch, would it be possible to place the roof on hinges? That would allow for the top to be opened as well.

  Yep, it came with hinges which we were not going to use but I think that if it is location and he is cool with the hutch as long as it is there…. then we will be adding either a plexiglass insert in roof or a panel of wire(like we talked about in other thread), just for more light and air and I will tell Hubby that we should re-add the hinges and have some way to prop lid open.

  One of my buns, Moose, is big on location. he hated it int eh dining area by the balcony, he disliked having the world see him through the window. he loves it in the corner of the computer room though. It’s more private for him
  
  If you decide to go with the hutch, I would use the wire panel, to allow for more ventilation

  I think Bun-Bun is just the opposite of Moose! He doesnt like being in the corner where he is snug and quieter. He prefers by the front door which we keep open because we have a storm door so he can see the world go by. He is constantly watching and standing up and sniffing, checking things out.
