Oreo recently went on a chewing spree on the baseboards and doorframe of her room. Prior to that she has generally been good about not chewing things she shouldn’t. To help deter her, I wipe the baseboards and doorframe down with vinegar every day or every other day. But now she is completely obsessed with licking the baseboards. While I much prefer licking to chewing, I’m wondering if this can be harmful to her and looking for other suggestions to deter the chewing.

I put perfume on it and he stopped immediately. It may smell good, but it tastes awful. Also, maybe you could provide another chewing apparatus in those areas? A basket or a box? I know that some people on here also buy 2×4’s and put them in front of the baseboards so at least its not the house being chewed up.

I have no idea if her digesting vinegar is bad though. Someone else might know.

I use perfume too. Chacha began to chew baseboards when we moved into the new apartment. I kept a huge assortment of my grandma’s perfume (thanks grandma) and I dabbed it into the baseboards! Now, no chewing

Great! I’ll try perfume instead. At least it will make the room smell better than vinegar
