  Ok, we have Bun-Bun in a decent size hutch in our living room. It is 2 ft x 4 ft and tall enough he can stand up and stretch fully. Because of the wire bottom and his crippled paw(he doesnt get as good of traction on smooth surfaces and we felt the wire would hurt to walk on) we covered the wire with horse stall rubber matting. We have no bedding down, just pellets in his litter box. He kept flicking and dumping the bedding out of his other cage like he did not want it in there.
  
  He isnt a small rabbit but he isnt a GIANT either. I want to get him something like a tube or something to snuggle in during the day when my house gets tooo crazy for him. The tubes I have seen at the store appear too small or that he would JUST fit.
  
  Ideas?
  
  And, when I have had rabbits in the past(eons ago when I was a kid and they were outside rabbits in an outside hutch) they loved an old towel to play with and/or sleep on.
  
  I gave Bun-Bun a towel and instead of playing or sleeping with it…… he would drag it over and cover his potty with it. 2 days of this and washing it in between….. I just removed it.
  
  Sorry for all the questions but we are new to house rabbits and want to do the best we can for Bun-Bun!

  I use cardboard boxes with a hole cut out for hidey-huts with my buns, the tubes in the pet stores are too tiny for them.

  Thanks! We have checked at Petsmart, Coastal Farm and Feed and Western Pet Supply(where the bunny meeting was) and we felt the same thing…. the largest tube was too small or he might fit in once and then get stuck!
  
  Good idea on the cardboard box….. need to find something that will work.

  If you go to subway, or a grocery store and ask them they will usually hold boxes back for you. They range in sizes so just kind of give them a general idea. Or wal-mart or anything sells packing boxes, less prep that way. I like the chip-size boxes from subway, or medium packing boxes, but mine aren’t in cages so they have lots of room for the larger boxes. You can also make a box-fort in the exercise area with them. Lots of fun for the buns to hop around.

  Bunnies LOVE to poo and pee on soft things so its normal that he would poo and pee on it. Is you bunny neutered? also I was a little confused about your post, is your bunny still on wire? or not?

  No, he is not on wire. The hutch has a wire bottom but we have covered it with horse stall matting. That rubber stuff the feed store sells.
  
  His left front paw is crippled and curled into basically a cinnamon bun shape to his elbow. It is solid and doesnt appear to pain him and he uses it like he would a normal paw. I watched him outrun the neighborhood cats several times before we caught him. We didn’t even realize he was disabled until we caught him.
  
  Anyways, because of his paw… it doesnt have traction like his other feet and tends to slip on slick surfaces. We felt that the wire would hurt to walk on as well. We found the rubber and thought it was great as its chew proof or almost and it has a slight texture so he cannot slip plus it is washable!

  I bought a concrete form tube from Home Depot- it’s a big cardboard tube (mine’s yellow) and they come in different diameters, and apparently they’re used for making concrete cylinders. I got the smallest one, and it works great for my 5 lb bunnies I just cut it to make it shorter using a utility knife. My two love running through it and napping inside.

  Awesome! We have a Home Depot around the corner and will get one this weekend! I put some cardboard in there this afternoon, like a little tent and he liked it but ended up squashing it.
  I think the tube will be great as he can hide in it!

  Definitely agree on the cardboard boxes! Mine are obsessed with their boxes and maze haven. I have some tunnels, but they stopped using them so I put them away.
