  Hi everyone,
  
  I’m sure ya’ll don’t remember me asking a few months ago what to do about my Dutch, Kairi, not eating hay. But I am still having problems with her not eating ANY type of hay (I have tried 6-7 different types/cuts of hay) and she still won’t eat it. I adopted a bunny from Cullen’s Archangels for Kairi to have a friend. So Puck came into our lives and I gradually introduced them. They have become very good friends, and sometimes maybe 1 or 2 times in the 6 months we have had Puck, Kairi will nibble some hay if Puck eats some (he loves hay and has very normal poops and I never see his cecotrophs). But for all intents and purposes Kairi will not eat hay. So now I am seeing soft, oval shaped poops interspersed with normal poops from Kairi. (Please see attached chart, type 4, just not as long) These are not cecotrophs, they are not little balls clumped together. These poops are about the mass/size of a cecotroph but it is a soft, single poop that she doesn’t eat. Is this an emergency? She seems normal in every other…jumps, runs, snuggles with Puck, gives me bunny kisses, etc. I don’t think it’s diarrhea, but she doesn’t eat hay and I don’t know how to “bulk” up her stools. (BTW, these soft poops just started about 2 days ago.) It doesn’t seem to be getting worse, nor is it increasing in frequency. Is this a “see the vet now” situation ,or a “see the vet Monday if it’s not stopped by then”?
  
  Please help. I love my little bunnies and want to keep both of them a long time, but as these are my first bunnies, these situations are new to me.

  You say this has been ongoing? In that case as long as she is acting normally, not lethargic, eating fine, and activity level is normal then Monday is probably okay. But, of course, keep an eye on her over the weekend (why does this stuff have to happen on weekends? Never fails).
  
  She could have a tooth problem (even if her molars look fine she could have issues with her back molars that you cannot see without a vet scope).
  What kind of bunny is she? Is she a lop?
  
  I definitely think it is extremely important that you call a rabbit-savvy vet though first thing Monday morning to make an appointment as you don’t want to let gi issues go on for too long.
  
  And again, just make sure that over the weekend she is eating, pooping and acting normally, and if not, then you will need to get her to a vet.
  
  Also, to help us help you, what does your bunny’s diet consist of. I know you offer hay, and she refuses it, but what are the quantities of pellets and greens.

  She is a Dutch, we have had her for about 2 years (got her at a pet store when she was young). Since we got her, she’s been to the vet several times with GI Stasis. But when we adopted Puck, Kairi started getting less stasis. Not sure why, maybe she had been lonely which caused stress which caused the stasis. I paid lots of attention to her, but maybe she just needed the company of another rabbit. She gets Oxbow Essentials Bunny Basic/T pellets about a quarter cup a day. I feed her a variety of greens (Baby lettuces like romaine, red leaf, etc), carrots, parsley, kale (small amounts of the kale maybe once a week) but the total daily greens is about 2 cups which she shares with Puck. Maybe once or twice a week she gets a treat like a small piece of banana or papaya. Her soft poops just started 2 days ago (she has normal poops too), but like I said, she still acts normal. They drink a lot of water. He poops normal and sometimes I will see her eat one of his poops. I am hoping that she will get his good flora from that.

  I know with my bunny Jack, he can be picky about trying new things, but if Vivian shows interest, he will is more likely to eat it too, so maybe Kairi nibbles a bit more on hay because of Puck. Did your vet ever check her teeth (the back molars as well?). My bunny Rucy had teeth issues with her back teeth only, but she could nibble on greens and pellets and soft pieces of hay until it progressed and then she would stick to pellets more so until she had the spurs from her molars trimmed. Do you notice if Kairi eats alot of the greens or does her Puck eat most of it?

  Her diet sounds pretty good actually with the exception of her refusing to eat hay. Depending on her weight, you may be able to lessen her pellets and increase her greens. I know that when I had a bunny that had more of a sensitive tummy, the vet suggested less pellets and increase the greens (though she was sensitive to certain types and I had to work through a list). This is something for you to discuss with your vet.
  
  How is she doing today?
