I got Lolli to snuggle on the couch like usual.  We got into our normal snuggle position – me on my side with her half on my pillow and half on my arm/shoulder.  Well tonite I pulled my head back so I could see her face and I noticed that Her Royal Highness was smack in the middle of MY pillow. It was just cute and funny and of course she had her Royal Highness look going on.  In a haughty voice “So I am….I AM the Queen after all”  lol

Side note – how much lettuce do you all feed?  Do you actually measure it out?  I give Lolli quite a bit.  Usually a couple of handfuls.  Because it’s organic baby spring mix and is compressed into a tub, it expands to quite a bit.  She eats it all so I never really thought about it.  But my dad is freaking out because I’m giving “way too much” and should only give “one small handful”.  To which I angrily retorted “I’m buying her lettuce now so don’t worry about it”.

We’re having some issues now in general.  Why….I don’t know.  Lolli and I are going to be here for quite a while.  At least a year.  Which I figured all along.  My dad was thinking just a couple of months apparently.  I am now fighting with about putting a direct tv box upstairs so I actually watch something on the weekends when he’s watching all his stupid sports.  Or other dumb stuff – like Rambo.    I didn’t push for the box before because I had no leverage so to speak.  But I am willing to help pay for it, etc.  I don’t know.  Now I’m working and have money and will be paying him rent.  So….yeah, we’re having some issues.  lol

o_O If you are willing to help.. I don’t get why he would have a problem with it

Lolli is making me crack up! Silly bumba!

I had to trim Chacha’s nails tonight and.. she was not pleased. Her nails grew a lot more o_O!!!! She got a craisin afterward. She was so cute after that. She laid out flat, with her head on the ground.. eyes open. I think she was zonked out It was so cute!

As for the lettuce, I give 2-3 leaves. When it gets to the smaller pieces, I’ll give 4-5. I got a container like you mentioned from work, and I forgot about watching Chacha and she ate half of it.. my goodness. I would just use a measuring cup to measure out 2 cups or something. Some bunnies can get carried away with having the container right in front of them.. *COUGHCHACHACOUGH*

Well… I give lots of veggies as they don’t much for pellets. Each bun gets less than 1/8 of a cup. So veggies need to make up for the rest of the nutrients. I go through a head of romaine and a head of greenleaf in about 3 days, large heads too. I mean I can barely fit them int eh bags at the store. Plus a bunch of cilantro and parsley. And whatever looks good in the produce section So yeah. They get alot of veggies. And when Squirrel gets older, he will be getting veggies too. SO I will go through even more!

Lol, Monkey, I can imagine the cashier bagging all of those lettuce heads… do they ask what the veggies are for?

Lolli is making me crack up

And I swear she snuggled down even more…..making herself more comfy. LOL

I guess the whole thing with my dad is that I have chosen the “house rabbit” way of having her as a pet. My dad has the typical attitude that rabbits belong outside in a hutch, etc. And this gets very frustrating for me cause I have explained it so many times. I guess it’s sort of like someone telling you how to raise your child. If she didn’t eat all of her lettuce, then I’d give her less. I have always given her more because I hope in vain that she’d eat less pellets. But she eats EVERYTHING by morning. lol Anyways…..I am just having a gripe moment. And I will be reducing her pellets even more.

I am also thinking about trying to file her nails. With a nail file. Just to round them off a bit, take those sharp edges off. lol I did file Eddie’s nails once. It was quite nice after….no bloody scratches. LOL

                  LOl that’s cute!!!

As for veggies… with a human diet, you want as much real food to make up the diet and take a multivitamin to supplement the rest, right? Are pellets essentially the same? I think I feed Huckles way too many veggies, usually 2-3 leaves of collard greens, probably 1/2 cup of cilantro or parsley or both and sometimes a couple leaves of red lettuce. She has unlimited hay and maybe 1/2-3/4 cup pellets. This is her daily diet. She seems healthy. The vet says she is overweight but she doesnt bulge from her ribs to her hips, its like a straight line. Her dewlap is hardly more than a bump. Perhaps viewing her diet this way is naive, but she seems happy and healthy. Ive never had to deal with poopy butt either. I just feel like I would rather she get more hay and fresh food than processed pellets.

And that really bites that you are arguing with your dad about things. Thats stress you dont need! I hope things work out ok for you. If all else fails about the tv thing, Hulu and netflix are great and you can watch them both from your computer! Plus, netflix is cheap!!!

I feed Kate and Spence betwen 4-5 cups of veggies a day (total, not each, lol) and they seem pretty happy with that and it seems to be maintaining their weight well. I vary it a little bit if I’m giving them veggies that have lower or higher than normal calories, but usually I give them three different things at a time to balance that out.
Once I was checking out all of my veggies at the local food co-op and the cashier said, “Wow, it looks like you’re making yourself a really nice salad!” And I replied, “Actually I’m making a couple of bunnies a really nice salad. But if I’m lucky, they might share.”
I spent a year living at home after I finished up my B.A. Sometimes it still surprises me that we all survived the experience, it can be pretty stressful and I’m not sure I’ve ever spent a year being more miserable, I don’t even think I was ever that miserable as a teenager! But just remind yourself that while things are pretty strained now, that you’ll be out soonish and everyone will forget the silly arguments and grievances.

My dad and I are doing better. I guess we’re just going to have our moments. Surprisingly, he called direct tv to check on prices and since installation will be free, he is going to put a box upstairs. So I will have my own tv and that will help a lot. Not that it was a huge problem, but I was getting frustrated with only having my laptop to watch things on – especially on the weekends. When my dad isn’t home, it’s a non-issue. Anyways….that’s all straightened out now. lol And he hasn’t said anything else about her lettuce.

I was mainly posting an update of sorts. I have noticed now since originally posting that Her Royal Highness always manages to end up smack in the middle of my pillow when we’re snuggling. At first I thought it was me – of how I was laying, etc. But tonite she was down in the crook of my arm. When she hopped up on my arm to lay on the pillow, she wound up in the middle again. So I think it’s her. LOL And I also got the equivalent of the teenager “omg mom….you’re so lame” look. All I said was “I love you….yes I doooooo”. Really, HOW can that be embarrassing to her? But I got the look anyways. LOL Underneath that sweetness is a definite Disapproving Diva! haha

I remember how much you missed Eddie when he passed away and your wanting a snuggle bun. How cool is it that Lolli has become a snuggle bun!

I KNOW! Especially now since she’s not with me all day like before. So when I get her, she tooth purrs and grooms my pillow and is all snuggly. Sometimes she grooms me, sometimes not. Just depends.

I want to get another bunny but then I don’t. I’m torn because I’m afraid if I get her bonded to someone new, she’ll be all about him again and not me. But at this point, it’s a non-issue cause my dad won’t let me. lol But she is such a complete sweetheart with a little divattude thrown in.

How’s the job going? I’m guessing it’s going pretty well!

I also don’t get why your dad would care if you pay for it. Good thing he’s on board now though!

I also feed a lot of lettuce, but then I have two. I would say one bun eats 2-3 heads of lettuce (the biggest ones I can find) plus a few bunches of parsley every week. I have those bowls shaped like lettuce and they split four overflowing bowls per day. So I don’t think you’re giving too much!

Well I guess I can officially quit worrying about her being alone. She put on a binky show for me tonite. LOL Of course, I was home today because my leg was acting up again….just that uncomfortable feeling that has me in tears if it gets bad enough. That made her happy. But it was so cute though. I was laying there, watching True Blood on my laptop and she starts zooming and binkying all over her pen.

I think my dad just has to b*tch at me about something. If he doesn’t think I need to spend money on something, then he says stuff. Oh well. I just tell him “don’t worry about it”. I also wondered today if he tried watching tv upstairs and that’s why he’s putting in the box upstairs. I forgot to ask tonite. But I slept on the couch this weekend and he didn’t come down like normal on Sunday morning to watch sports and read the paper. Anyways…..

I will always find something to worry about regarding Lolli. It would be nice if I didn’t. lol
