just wanted to share a picture of kimo kawaii.  since sphynxes have no fur, they are really good at seeking out warm spots to bask.  we have insulated curtains on our windows, and since it has started getting so hot here, kimo has discovered the pockets of heat trapped by the curtains.  goose and i were out playing in the sprinkler yesterday, and there he was, eyes closed, idley grooming his paws.

awh! he’s so cuteee!! I’ve never seen a sphynx with that colouring

Just curious is it hard to keep his nails beds, ears, etc. clean? We have lots of sphynxes that come into work for bathes every few months and they get pretty gross.

he’s never too happy about being bathed and groomed, but it isn’t too big of a deal. i never have a problem cleaning his nail beds, but i do have a hard time keeping the gunk that actually accumulates *on* the nails under control. do you mean that those sphynxes are only ever groomed every few months? if so, that’s why they get so nasty. kimo (and most other sphynxes that i know) gets baths every 2-3 weeks in the winter, and every week or two in the summer. he produces more oil in the summer when it’s hot, so needs bathed more often, and our house is chilly in the winter, so i bathe him less often to keep him from getting chilled.

Yeah I think they are only ever groomed every few months. My guess is that the owners REALLY don’t want to do it themselves because it is pretty expensive to bring them into us vs. a groomer, or you know doing it yourself . It’s good to know about the grooming time though. Pretty much the only ones we see are the dirty ones haha.
