  My Daughter was given a baby rabbit, someone dumped the pregnant mother at the hospital and she gave birth in the “wild” the babies were caught and rehomed. Angel as my daughter named the rabbit came home at 200 grams and 3 weeks later is 1lb. She is the most loving rabbit ever but she does the strangest things. We guessed her age to be around 8 weeks old but we arent sure… My question is are we feeding her to much? We free feed essentially. She gets grass dandelions clover ect from the yard. She always has pellets and we give her fruit and veggies as we eat them thru the day. She has never had diarreha or anything and has started to beg for food. She gets about double her size in fresh grass, fruits and veggies a day, plus all the pellets she can eat. She gets hay as well but isnt as fond of that as fresh grass (thankfully we have grass all year long here).
  
  So far she loves to kick up her heels and run, flop and roll over. She also shakes her head while running around. She cuddles and is a total brat. She is very calm and sleeps when we take her in public. She loves her harness. She chases the dogs and cats. Climbs the scratching post and her favorite place to be is the back of the couch… She gets there herself.

  She should have access to pellets and hay at all times. Her pellets, at this age, should be alfalfa based, but if they are timothy it’s ok.
  Go easy on the fruits and veggies. I *think* if you haven’t noticed any icky looking poops, she is responding well to veggies and are good. However, she should not have any fruit (ok… maybe a little bit ). It’s a bit too high in sugar, plus you don’t want her holding out for fruit and not eating the hay and pellets.
  Hay is the most essential part and as adults, it should make up 80-90% of her food.
  She sounds like a very lucky bun to have you guys!

  Also, this: https://binkybunny.com/BUNNYINFO/Diet/tabid/60/Default.aspx will give you an idea of what she can be fed. Keep in mind it is for adult rabbits, so Angel should have both unlimited hay and pellets.

  I am wondering if our guess to her age is right? And is growing this fast normal? I mean she seriously fit into the palm of my hand when we got her now its 2 hands…

  my baby boy Squirrel doubled in size in the first week we had him, we got him when he was 6 weeks old. So yeah. They grow like weeds

  200gms was teeny – goodness! It makes me suspect she is younger then you think. I took in a rabbit that we guessed to be 4wks old. The vet weighed him and agreed he was about this age judging on his weight. You could probably expect your baby bun to put on 100gms per week. In the first 4 days mine gained 100 as I bottle fed a little formula and he was eating solids also. I think those initial days he regained what he’d lost since his capture. He gained 200 within that 1st week, then it was an average 100g per week.
  
  Much of the time, you have to wait until they reach their full growth then try work out their age from there. When they become hormonal, that helps give you an idea of age also.

  Baby rabbits grow fast. I had mine since she was 7-8 weeks old. She was a pound when I got her, and at age 6 months, she was about 3 pounds.

  Thank you all. She has never been on formula although when we got her I wondered if she should have been. She has always had a great appetite though. She likes to steal food right out of my mouth. In the past 3 weeks she has gotten very confident and more and more bratty. She likes to move shoes around the house. I hope we are right and shes a female, I had a rabbit breeder look at her though and they said shes a girl so heres hoping lol. She responds to the word BRAT but not her name of Angel… what does she get called the most hey!! She is very chubby as well… I have been told for a young bunny this is good and that she should thin out as an adult. What breed do you think she is? I really hope she stays on the smaller side just because thats cuter but if shes larger thats okay too, we love her no matter what.

  Otto was 1.5lbs when we got him at 2 months. By 5 months he was 4lbs. They grow really fast!
