  So, I was picking Daphne up this evening to have her come play with us on the couch when I decided to inspect her nether region for poo, etc since I realized I hadn’t checked in a while. And what do I see but 2 little bunny balls, to which I just turn to my roommate and go “uhhh, Daphne’s a boy?” in full-on Russell from Disney’s UP “Kevin’s a girl?” mode.
  
  So yeah, the petstore was wrong (no surprise) and the vet was wrong (despite her bunny expertise). The girl must have JUST gotten her two new friends, since I had not noticed them til now (and she’s roughly 13 weeks, so 3 months or so). I know Emmie just had this happen with her Zelda, which is kinda hilarious since we got our buns around the same time.
  
  Now the question is: Daphne or new name? *sigh… Initially, if it was a boy, I was going to name him Pipkin (a la Watership Down), but now I’m so attached to the name Daphne that Pipkin doesn’t have the same appeal. I might go Harry Potter on her and call her Dobby. Hmm…

  I’m not surprised she was sexed wrong, it happens often. Don’t blame the vet, its very hard to tell on some bunnies when they are young

  lol im getting nervous now! just curious dont female rabits normally have a bit o a double chin? Im not sure what its called or when it develops I know sophie has a bit of one. but as far as name Dobby is very cute!

  I think some rabbits, even males can get dewlaps? I’m not sure though.

  Some boys do, generally it means they are overweight Not all girls do, Monkey never did. Smudge doesn’t have one either. I think they often go down in size after spaying, but not always.

  If you like the name Daphne, keep it. I don’t know why everyone’s first response is “I HAVE TO CHANGE THE NAME!!!” You don’t have to. It’ll make for an interesting story when you tell folks about your boy Daphne!

  I think you should keep the name if you like it. Once he’s neutered, who’s gonna know if he’s a boy or girl?

  You could also call him Daphnis, like the hero from Greek Mythology, and use Daphne as his nickname.

  I’d call him/her whatever you want. My Daisy is very much the dutch dude and my boy siamese cat, Katie uses it as an excuse to attack anyone who laughs at him.

  Haha, love all the replies For now, Daphne remains Daphne unless I get inspired by something. I decided (s)he’ll just have androgen insensitivity (46 XY who looks female but has undescended testes and is genetically male, but phenotypically female). *nerd alert*

  Well, another Greek Mythology inspired name could be Hermes and you could say it’s short for Hermaphrodite. ; )

  My Sara turned out to be a boy! He is neutered now so I guess it doesn’t matter. And he doesn’t even care as long as he gets treats and pets lol.
