We have had some bad weather in Wisconsin…
We were on our way home from our other house and I look out the window and see lightning flashing every second! I didn’t think much of it because we were in our car, but when we turned on our road my mom texted my dad and asked ” are you ok?” we were like, yeah. When we got home I grabbed the bunnies kennel and go inside, when I walk in the door my mom yells ” Get in the basement NOW!” so I run down stairs with the buns and she tells me there’s a tornado warning and so we went into the bathroom in the basement. The power goes out, but soon after that the rain stopped and it got lighter out side. We look out the window and see our trampoline in a tree ( which is ruined btw) soon we go out side and police men start to come and block the roads off because of fallen down tree’s. Later we found out a tornado hit our next door neighbors. I have lived in this town my whole life and there has never been tornados close to me. I am just thanking God how lucky we are that it didn’t hit us. We were out of power for two days and it finally came back on at 5 am this morning. I just got back from helping a near by farm that got destroyed from the tornado. I am sooo tired and just about to go to bed so I am sorry if this post isn’t very well written.
I will upload pics of the damage later but for some reason it isn’t letting me now.
OMG I’m glad you are okay! Send my thoughts to your neighbours, I hope everyone got through it okay!
So glad you are okay! My thoughts go out as well to your neighbors and other victims. Get some sleep!
Thanks. I forgot to mention our neighbors weren’t there. They don’t live there they just visit. They have gardens and sheds on that land. It was so close to hitting us!
Oh my! Very glad you all are ok!
In central Illinois, we get our fair share of tornado warnings and actual tornadoes but I’ve never been in one or had one super close. I couldn’t imagine how scary that had been!
Thank goodness it didn’t hit you guys! How scary, especially for someone who isn’t used to it.
We had them rip through Oklahoma as well. There was one that was supposedly 4 miles wide and on the ground for over an hour here, or so the weathermen said at the time. Im not sure of many of the details but it fizzled out before it came to our county.
These storms have been crazy this year!!!!
There were tornado warnings by my house in Norfolk too, but I’m at my parents rather than there. My friends there said that the storms were terrifying, especially since there are no basements in Hampton Roads thanks to sandy soil, low lying areas, and flooding.
I’m glad you’re okay and that your neighbors weren’t there! How far away are your properties?
Scary!!! Glad you and your family are okay. Thank goodness you were able to get home and were not still out driving around when it hit.
I really need to get 2 more pet carriers, so I have one for each bunny in case something like that ever happens here. With all the crazy storms hitting all over the US, I’m really worried about our storm season which is usually mid summer. Weather experts say we will have a very active hurricane season this year. I think I would prefer hurricanes to tornadoes though. Luckily we have a basement as well.
Yes it was scary! We didn’t know there was a tornado that close until later that night. During the storm our cat Shadow had been outside and we didn’t know what had happened to him. He came back at 5 that morning and is fine. Were going to go back to help at the farm that got hit by the tornado today. Yesterday we were able to fix 3 paddocks so the some of the horses can get out of the barn.
Oh my! What a mess. Hope everyone was okay there.
yeah… one of their new born kittens got squished by the barn but is still living and I think is doing better. She has about 15 horses and I don’t think any were injured. The woman who owns the farm was out side and felt strange and ran into the house before the storm came.
Wow, that’s so scary! I’m glad you and your family and buns are all safe.
I’m in Wisconsin right now visiting my family, and I’m about ready to go home! It’s scary to see all the destruction in the news. Glad you’re okay, Mocha200!
That’s awful. At least no animals died though. ((((vibes to the kitten)))). I bet the horses were acting up before the storm hit…horses are very intuitive about weather.
(((HUGS Mocha!!!)))
I’m so glad you and your family are okay!
Thanks guys!
The horses are a little weird after the storm but they’re getting better. Yesterday, we went over their and helped clean up all the garbage on the ground, there were some other people there but they were just standing around talking… It kind of bothered me they didn’t come help. But the three of us ( me my sister and cousin) managed to pick up all the garbage by ourselves besides the big sheets of roofing, siding, and wood.
Oh, and the Mama of the baby kittens moved her babies and they can’t find them. ![]()
The Mom is maybe upset because of all the commotion around the barn. How is the little kitten that got hurt?
Last time they saw her she was getting better, they think she was mostly just scared. They still haven’t found them yet.
