I’ve been thinking about a lot of our older members whom I
haven’t seen in awhile: particularly BunnyLiz (whose bunnies were Lucy, Hammer and her Rainbow bridge bunny’s sister, the name of whom escapes me at present) she was just graduated about this time last year I thought and we haven’t heard anything from her, so I am sure college is keeping her busy.
Binkles….I often wonder how Little Bit and Peter are getting on. According to the last update I saw on her DA account quite a while ago, she was doing well with a new job as an illustrator for some big company. ![]()
Boston…we never heard from her after the first bad snows back in December/January. I do hope all is well.
Janet and Edson…they showed up for a brief while then disappeared again. Are you guys all secret agents or something? ![]()
Also, speaking of bad weather, I am watching in awestruck horror tonight as the pictures from Joplin, Missouri are flashing across the screen. I have everyone in my prayers. My mother (adoptive) was from St. Louis and often told me the story about how she came home from school one afternoon and the second floor of her home was gone with only the bathtub hanging from it’s piping out the top of the first floor. I HATE tornadoes…got caught in a few traveling with my dad when I was 13 as we went across country…scariest moments of my life. Give me earthquakes anyday of the week!
It is just horrifying the way the weather has gotten so violent. We’ve had some high winds that have me thinking about building a sub-basement. No big boomers yet,but you can see them building… and the humidity…I love the warmer weather as opposed to the snow, but sometimes hot is just too hot-especially for my poor bunnies. Our wildfire season is already under way here and it doesn’t look like it’s going to be a very comfortable summer. Not to mention the BUGS. My word I’ve never seen so many nor have I had to deal with mosquitoes that act like a swarm of killer bees! I worry for Fiver, I’m doing my best to keep his bum clean, but the flies still find their way indoors and I carry around one of those little electric bug zapper thingies. It is my best friend at present.
Anyway…who are you missing or would you like to give a supportive shout out to someone who has gotten the bad end of Mother Nature lately?
Mae is her bun’s name MM, sister to bridge bun Rose
I have been wondering about some of our missing members too.
Lancy, who moved to Canada from China has yet to post since the move. How did it go??
Andi, another Canadian, who has been absent…
Petzy! Stop in and say hi!
I haven’t been here long enough to know if anyone is missing. I have a friend from high school whose family lives near Joplin. Her family is ok but she was very worried about them.
I live in Oklahoma and the storms here have been really strange. Especially today! Every storm I can remember starts in the southwest end of the country and moves towards the northeast corner. Today, we had a storm move in the opposite diagonal across Oklahoma City. The lightning over Stillwater (where I am) was really strange, Im not sure I can describe it very well, there was very little thunder and the little we had didnt make the usual rolling boom but instead a highly electric crackle.
I hope everyone is staying safe that is in the path.
I was thinking about andi lately. I agree, petzy needs to come back in.. and post pictures of her linty poo. I’m going to have linty withdraws!
also karla. i haven’t seen her around ![]()
Huckleberry, I know what you mean. Weather IS changing. Whether you want to call it coming ice age, global warming or just cyclical planetary activity, the storms are worse, they are different and most definitely dangerous. Please be safe!
Our own storms here look more to me like the kind of atmospheric changes you see during sever t-storm weather in the east/midwest/south. You could always tell if a tornado storm cell was coming by the south to north direction of the wind and other signs like animals suddenly silent and that ‘locomotive’ sound. That lightning you described sounds awful.
Sorry…always loved meteorology. I used to think being a stormchaser would be a cool lifestyle, but I would be so terrified finding a funnel cloud I would more likely run the other way! 0_o
Fiver misses Neigey. I always thought of Neigey as a Fiver who had been bleached instead of being washed with like colors. ^_^

Ive always loved meteorology also! My brother loves even more, I always joked that he would know a storm was coming before the local news stations… that isnt as impressive as it sounds because our local news stations seem very unorganized, still, they get really excited during storms and its fun to watch grown men act like 7 yr olds on tv.
I am surprised that I have only been in one tornado, since Ive lived in “tornado alley” all my life. Looking back, it was a very funny experience. There hadn’t been any sirens yet, but we were in the playroom looking out the window and saw it start to dip from the sky. My mom shoved my brother and I into the shower and went to get the dog. She was pulling at the back door, my dad, who had been in the front yard, pulled on the front door. The pressure kept the both doors from opening. Finally, my mom gave up and my dad was able to get inside. A few seconds later, we heard a horrible crack. Then the storm was gone. We went outside, all of the neighbors were coming out too, all holding radios and looking around at the sky. Then, all the radios on the street announced “A tornado warning has been issued for Tulsa County, all residents need to take cover.” Everyone looked around wondering if another was coming or if they were just slow to catch on. Later, we were heading to get something to eat and found what the crack was, the tornado hit a church 2 blocks from our house. That same church suffered 2 floods, 2 more tornadoes, a freak wind storm and a fire in the 19 years I lived in Tulsa. I wonder what they were preaching….
Weather freaks me out lately too. I tend to worry about EVERYTHING so when the weather is weird I tend to get freaked out about it. With all this 2012 talk it gets kind of scary. Not looking forward to our storm season here. I absolutely HATE thunder and lightening. I’m petrified of it. My big fear is of the house or the huge trees in our yard getting struck and catching fire. And of course, the really bad storms always tend to happen when my bf is at work and I’m alone.
BunnyLiz actually posted recently in the Bonding Forum. I miss Petzy…very much. Both her wisdom and her wonderful pictures.
I think here in Bloomington, IN we’re coming up on almost three weeks of rain or at least the threat of rain. And weather underground tells me to look forward to more rain for the next five days. We had a pretty wicked thunderstorm here yesterday, I actually thought it was going to be a tornado the winds were so bad. We lost a lot of trees nearby! I’m hoping this all calms down soon, I had some plans for doing things outside before I move to Illinois in July! Bunnies hope it calms down soon too, they are not fans of thunder.
Michigan has had rain rain rain rain and more rain. We usually have rainy springs, but this is ridiculous! The past months have also been weird in that we will have a couple days of mid 80’s, and then a storm front moves though and we have a week of 40’s and 50’s with rain.
Here is a post of the bad weather in our area. : https://binkybunny.com/tabid/54/aft/115689/Default.aspx
Yup, us too. The last two weeks was all rain. A lot of downpours too. Lots of flooding.
We’ve got some lovely boomers going on today. Last night it was very gusty and I was worried some of our trees were going to fall. I keep looking out the window and hope I don’t see any weird clouds… 0_o;
I just want to pop in quickly here and hope that everyone passed last nights’ storms safely across the country. (I froze when I heard Stillwater, OK was in the path of some severe storms with possible tornadoes-hope you’re okay, Huckleberry!)
What about Barbie? I miss her 🙁
I also miss Petzy so much.
The weather is kind of crazy, especially if you think about the earthquakes and tsunamis. Though I know in NE we’ve had crazy weather the past few years (crazy snow, tons of rain, super high temps, etc). I blame it on global warming 😛
Hard to believe…we’ve had 2 gorgeous days in a row. Rain tomorrow though..
Ugh, I got to spend a good hour locked in a bathroom with a boyfriend, two bunnies and a tortoise. No tornadoes hit my area, but they landed in nearby town and we had some serrious winds and crazy hail. My power finally came on at about 5am, naturally we’d had lights on when the power went out and it was a rather rude awakening.
