I want pics of oldtimer bunnies!   The older and crotchety-er, the better!

I didn’t mean that, I just want to fawn over cute older buns.  Young buns get all the spotlight, I think the older buns deserve their photo op too!

This is Spockie resting under his favorite loveseat. He was a love bug at age 8.

Here he is just 2 months before he crossed the Bridge. He lost weight and use of his back legs, but he scooted to this spot by pushing those back feet really fast and scooting along the rug to get to his loveseat on his own. (His eyes were actually brown.)

Spockie was so sweet. I can’t even imagine how hard that must have been with him losing use of his back legs.

Stormy is about 7 and he’s my first bunny.

Five of my six rabbits are over 8 years old and they aren’t near their end that I can tell. They seem pretty darn healthy and alert to me.

I selected “10 years old” but since all but one of mine have been rescues, that’s a guesstimate on age.

It’s hard having an older bun. My dear Rosie has started heading down the path to the Rainbow Bridge. Her quality of life is still quite good now, and I could have her another year maybe. But I’m definitely thinking about end of life issues. Maybe we need an older bun support thread!

I’ll see if I can get recent pictures.

I had only 4 and then I took my friends (Bobby & Bogie) thinking it would be temporary but it’s turned out to be permanent. I pretty much just say they are mine – she’d probably eventually take Bogie back but I think he’s happy with me and I kind of got attached to Bobby and well, Bogie too. Bogie is very easy going and he lost his girlfriend before he came to stay with me so I think he’s happy to hang out with the other senior buns at my house.

This was my first bun, Bunster.  I had him till he was 8.  I was told he was a Netherland Dwarf when I got him but quickly found out he wasn’t!  He was such a sassy and fiesty little thing and I loved him so much.

                                Here he was about 6.

Haha, I was pregnant in this picture so this was right before he passed away.  I lost him when I was about 7 months along.

Sorry for the delay here – I was out of town.  Yes, I do owe everyone pictures!  Rosie is especially cool.  She’s a harlequin dutch:  she has the dutch pattern of color-white-color, but where most dutches are black or grey for their color, she’s a mix of harlequin colors (shades of brown and black).  And she has one black ear and one white ear.  She was a stray found on the side of the road, so I don’t know anything about her breeding.  She doesn’t look particularly elderly, though.

Taking pics will be on my to-do list this weekend!

My first bunny, Nibbles, lived for almost 12 years (on an alfalfa pellet-based diet and unspayed!).  I thought she was a nethie for a long time, but she probably was some sort of mix dwarf, as she got up around 3-4lbs.

She started to get gray hair under her chin too!  I don’t have many digital pictures of her, as that was *gasp* before digital.  Here’s one, in her last year.  She didn’t move around much so I could just take her out side and plop her down in the grass.  My mom had just mowed so I was covering her in grass clippings .
