I was reading posts and I got to one that at first was like, “Oh, I have this problem, blah blah blah, what should I do?” And us being bunny lovers all have the same advice–vet. And then an argument breaks out. I am not a person who likes to have arguments online. On facebook, some people will go at it for two days! Ugh…especially when it comes to politics.

Basically, I’d like to give some advice, but I don’t like to get yelled at. So when posts get awkward, all I can do is read them and hope they end soon.

Yeah…. so awkward. Just thought I’d share.

Yes it can be frustrating, that is why the headline on BB pretty much says it all:

“The answers provided on this board are for general guideline purposes only. The information is not intended to diagnose or treat your pet. It is your responsibility to assess the information being given and seek professional advice/second opinion from your veterinarian and/or qualified behaviorist. ”

If anything, we can offer kindness and support and share similar experiences which is really terrific.

I stop reading those posts or posts made by people that become problems. I dont like it either. I get worried that when arguments break out that we will upset people and lose the ability to help them.

It’s important that we keep our cool with people. Like Huckleberry said, we risk chasing them off, and no one gets helped if that happens. Best thing to do ithese situations is follow the golden rule… “if you can’t say anything nice (helpful), don’t say anything at all.”

When all is said and done, BB is an online forum. It is not the place for everyone. We cater to a very limited group of people, and our advice does not change from day to day. If anything, we are consistent with our advice and very firm with our beliefs. All we can do is listen, offer advice, and hope that the animals involved get the proper care. We are not vets, our advice will (more often than not) be to seek veterinary care.

As always, if you feel a thread is taking a bad turn, rather than responding (especially if it makes you feel awkward), alert us via the alert button on the top right corner of each post. We will be notified and will address the issue accordingly.
