Who has dogs? I love dogs especially small dogs. I had a Shih-Tzu named Beatrice when I was younger. She stayed with my parents when I moved out and died a few years ago at 16. I miss her.
I would love to get my own dog but financially and time-wise, it’s just not feasible. Plus Stormy HATES dogs. If he hears a dog sniffing or their nails clicking as they run in my house, he freezes. Plus all my fave breeds are terriers…not a good mix with bunnies.
Luckily for me, my Mom also loves dogs and she has an 8 month old West Highland Terrier that I doggy-sit. I go every evening while she’s at work to feed and take her for a walk. She’s so much fun. She’s super friendly and just loves everyone. Mom had a really hard time finding a Westie here and had to go to Toronto to get her. They’re not very common around here so when dog people see her they tend to stop and make a fuss over her.
It’s really hilarious…I took her for a walk yesterday and there were little teeny weeny ants on the curb and she chases and tries to eat them. I couldn’t stop laughing. There’s a nature trail by my Mom’s house and we go there often. Most days she will find a big stick and carry it the whole way home…sometimes like 1/2 hour and she refuses to put it down. When we get to Mom’s porch she will put it down before going in the house. She also LOVES pinecones. It’s her favorite thing. She tosses them up in the air and rolls around on them. Weirdo dog.
I want to start agility training with her. There’s an agility dog club that practices every Sunday at my horse’s barn. It’s so fun to watch.
This is Lily…
What about your dog/dogs?
I don’t live with dogs, my apartment is much too small in my opinion for a dog, plus it’s safe to say that Kate and Spence would pretty seriously disapprove if I tried. But I grew up with dogs so here’s my furry little sisters, Indy and Annabelle. My dad’s a big hunter (mostly birds) so he has a lab and an english setter. Indy is my baby, we got her right before I started high school. Sadly I don’t have any digital baby pictures, but she was such a sweet little puppy. She used to sleep on my chest and cry pitifully whenever I would leave. I think I was a litter mate/mother surrogate, it was both adorable and sad. She’s a very sweet dog, whenever I go home she cuddles with me and my boyfriend on the couch and she snores! Annabelle (the setter) is a little younger, and an extremely neurotic dog. I have yet to meet an English Setter that wasn’t a little weird. She likes to take her treats and hide them in people’s laundry. She is a pretty intense little cuddle monster. She’ll sleep on the bed with me and no matter how you toss and turn and squish her, she just stays there and cuddles up. And now, without further ado, the pictures!
Indy with her duck. This one actually survived a little while, but eventually she pulled all of the stuffing out.
Indy wants a belly rub!
Annebelle says, “Why must I wear this sweater? What exactly is Christmas. And I saw you take this off a stuffed bear.”
You can’t see me!
Santa Puppy and her helpful reindeer. When I took of that vest there was much rejoicing.
Aww she is adorable!
I have 2 dogs but I left them at my parents’ when I moved out. I dont have any pictures right now because my old computer crashed 🙁
Oompa Loompa is an 11 years old dachshund/lab mix…. yeah, I dont know that happened either lol… She looks just like a short black lab but she got the back end of a dachshund so her hips are set weird, she looks like she was kicked in the bum as a puppy. She is so goofy! Her tail acts as a perpeller and when she wags it, the force will cause her to spin around in a circle! She has always been a gentle dog… and a little stupid. I have never had much trouble training a dog, but this one just looks at me like I am the funniest person she has ever met. She is a sweetheart though, so we let her stupidity slide.
Eddie 2 is a bull terrior (we think) that we found sitting on the highway. My mom brought him home and announced that we were not keeping him and that he had a home and we had to find who was missing a dog….that was 2 years ago. We dont know how old he is but we are pretty sure he isn’t over 3 years old. He is super smart and very obedient…. well, depending on who it is, he obeys me and my youngest sister. He seems to have bonded with my 7 year old sister the most, she is the youngest. They are buddies. He will bark at the neighbor boys that come to play with her, she says “Eddie! No!” and he sits down and licks her fingers. He is a wonderful dog… even though he still isn’t ours, according to my mom. I think he has a different opinion about the situation.
i currently only have one dog. we usually have two or three, but in this small house, with a child, one dog is more than enough. we have done a ton of fostering and rescue work. at one point, we had two great danes, a saint bernard, a min pin, and great pyrenees, in addition to the various small animals. one of the danes, the saint, and the min pin where actually ours, the other two where fosters. now, our only dog is river, the american bulldog mix. i’ve always loved bully breeds, but since adopting river, i have become more aware of the prejudiced, myths, and hatred surrounding pit bulls and other bully breeds. since river *looks* like a pit, even though she is dna tested otherwise, we cannot even drive through certain places (such as denver). even thoough we are a military family, we cannot live on certain bases. because pit bulls are not allowed in base housing at our current base, we have to live in a crappy neighborhood off base, because it is all we can afford. river is the best dog i have ever known, though. she is a little gruff with strange dogs (takes careful intros), but is amazing with other animals and ADORES anything on two legs, especially the little people.
here she is with kitsune, one of the ferrets.
with arya. as much as i adore river, my heart aches every day missing arya
as a pup with vash and kitsune
and one last one, my favorite picture ever of arya.
some day, after my husband retires and we settle down, we plan on showing great danes (for me), and otterhounds (for him).
Everyone has such beautiful dogs!
I’m a dog lover at heart. My parents had two mini schnauzers when I was born, and got two new ones when I was about 6 (after the first two passed). They weren’t really “mini” (22lbs and 30lbs – not fat, just much taller than breed standard) and we didn’t trim them the right way – we just left them scruffy with their ears down. They were such great dogs and so funny! The girl, Cindy, who I always called “My Dog” (because the boy was attached to my mom at the hip) died 5 or so years ago when I was in college. I miss them so much.
We’re in the process of buying a house and I can’t wait to get a dog! We really want to get a brittany, hopefully as a puppy so we can have the puppy experience and train it to live with the buns. Our house has a decent yard, but even better it has 9 acres of woods and backs onto a rail trail! It will be perfect for having a dog and I’m so excited.
Doggies!!!!!
I love dogs they are by far my favorite pet of all time.
My first dog was a Shar-pei mix named Precious. I only have one picture of her but this was before digital cameras lol and I haven’t scanned it. Imagine a shar-pei with a super wrinkly face and a completel smooth body lol. She was a huge goofball and a fierce protector there was not anywhere this dog did not go with me. She would even follow me to school and then walk home (yes I know now that this wasn’t safe but I was a kid and didn’t know any better at the time). She sadly didn’t make it to her 1st birthday and had a gruesome horrible death by another dog.
Next was my boy Luck a border collie lab mix. He was insane from the day I met him until the day he died. He loved nothing more than to play doesn’t matter how or what with as long as he was playing he was happy. He loved the outdoors and I would have to fight with him sometimes to get him to come in especially if it was raining he loved the rain. During winter he would sit by the door to be let out and would stand outside for hours just letting it snow on him. He was a big sweetheart unless you were another male dog and it was time to eat then he wasn’t so nice lol. He died last year 2 months before his 13th birthday on my mother’s birthday. I still can’t really talk about him without crying. This was on of the last and my favorite picture of him. He hated having his picture taken and would hide much like my next dog Cocoa.
In major need of a bath and brush but with his best friend Buddy (RIP) a dog that was 100% wild it took me close to 2 years to tame him and he only trusted me. He was an amazing dog but sadly passed away a year after the picture was taken. He was severely abused as a puppy tied to a light pole never talked to never fed other than scraps never petted never bathed or walked his chain was 1.5 ft long he stood in his own waste. I found him and cut him loose at the time he was biting me and growling he was never able to fully be an indoor dog he was so afraid of every noise or movement even after a year of him being ‘tame’. He never took to dog food either and I ended up feeding him a raw diet which he loved. He was a sweet dog and loved to lay in the creek behind my house. You would often find him digging holes and making ‘tunnels’ to different parts of the yard. He loved his chin scratched if he was being a pain in my behind I would just scratch his chin until he fell asleep.
Next is Cocoa my oldest current pup who will be 9 in Nov. She was Lucky’s best bud. Cocoa doesn’t really like other dogs unless they are much smaller than her then she treats them like her puppies. She is definitely a mother dog when people drop puppies or kittens on my door she immediately takes over “mothering” them. She doesn’t know the meaning of the word stranger she loves people. She is a chunk but is super picky about her food. When she was around 2 years old she was completely ran over by someone who hated my dogs. I thought for sure she was going to die but she wouldn’t stay down even with a twisted spine 2 broken hips and a snapped tail she would bolt out of the door every morning. She eventually lost her tail and she has a funny walk and can’t really sit but she doesn’t notice she is as happy and full of energy as she has ever been. She like Lucky will hide when the camera comes out. The only time I am able to get a decent picture is when she is standing at the door to be let in or is outside because she is distracted lol.
Next is my heart dog Haven. He is definitely my baby he will be 8 years old in June and is Gizmo’s brother. They seem to have different fathers but who knows. I have heard everything from pit mix to husky mix to shiba inu mix to dalmation mix (because of his spots) etc. He has one brown eye and one blue/white/brown eye lol. The most common question I get is “Is he blind?”. No he can see very well. He is a parvo survivor he was treated at home and it was terrifying I did not sleep for almost a week I sat with him between my feet the whole time. He has severe allergies to certain things they will make his head shake like he is saying no if he is fed pork, corn or wheat. He’s a cuddler and loves kids. His favorite thing ever is the frisbee and cheese give him one of either and he will love you forever. He hates cats he used to chase them in any way possible until he cornered one and it boxed his ears lol now he is just afraid of them unless they are behind glass. He and Cocoa do not get along at all she will use every opprotunity that she can to attack him if I am not around. He has helped me through horrible times hence his name Haven at the time I considered him sort of a safe haven.
A younger puppy Haven
Showing off his pretty eyes
Next is Gizmo my youngest girl. She is a border collie mix it is very obvious lol. She is Haven’s sister and they are very much attached. She is mentally handicapped and learns at a much slower pace than other dogs and relies heavily on Haven. If he leaves for even an hour she begins to panic. She hates people other than people she knows. She is curious about people but will bark at them the entire time they are in my house unless she can’t see them or they are sitting and not making any sudden movements. She loves to have her belly rubbed if you pet her she will flop down on the floor with her leg raised and wait for you to pet her belly lol. She is also a licker I had to teach her a command to stop licking she licks my arms legs any exposed skin all the time! She haaaates hot weather she will dig a huge mud hole and cover herself in mud if she is hot outside. It is funny and cute but a pain to bath her after.
Next is Ziggy my youngest boy. No clue what he is he is supposedly a pomeranian/chiuahua/daschund mix that a breeder deemed as unusable. He is super hyper and very much a lap dog. He loves being outside no matter the weather the hotter the better since he gets to swim when it’s hot lol. He is obsessed with water the only dog I have that loves taking a bath. If I say bath before I even run the water he is in the bathtub. No matter how little he is fed or how much he runs he is a fatty lol. You cannot leave things around him or they will be chewed I buy him cow hooves and deer antlers by the bulk he goes through them like candy. He loves other dogs if they will play he doesn’t care how big or small they are. He is a bit of a nut and does some of the most insane things ever when he was a puppy he went missing and I looked everywhere for him all day and into the night. Then I heard this squeaking sound and found him inside a garbage can LOL. That is another thing that you can’t leave around even with a lid he will find a way into it. He is considered my “pretty” dog and has won many contests around town and groomers constantly want to “feature” him. This is a bad version of my favorite picture of him I can’t find the original at the moment.
Lastly is my mothers terror. I am not one to dislike any dog but this dog is EVIL. Other than my mom he will bite growl and just torment you. He is a maltese mix and is currently shaved and looks ridiculous. But this is what he normally looks like.
My one and only dog. I love him to pieces. He’s a sweet and doleful guy who follows me every where, but patiently stays out in the hallway when I am playing with the bunny. He waits for me right outside the door, napping. Hodari is afraid of him, but the only reason she should really be afraid is that he is a klutz. He steps on the cats all the time. Anyway, he’ll be nine years old this summer. No one believes me when I tell them how old he is.
I wish I was aging so gracefully!
You all have pretty dogs. I enjoy looking at all the great pics.
I have a Basset Hound named Zoe. She LOVES the bunnies, in a good way. She loves to cuddle and lick them. She has no desire to chase them or nip at all. She just does not care. She is such a great puppy!
Her first night…
Zoe and Dexter
Zoe and Dennis cuddling
i love basset hounds! those ears just kill me! i use to want one more than anything in the world, but after fostering a couple, i realized they just aren’t the breed for me. that doesn’t stop me from squeeing every single time i see one, though!
Gahahah! Dennis is a HUGE cuddle bug! Dexter looks quite disapproving!
We have a 4 y/o boxador (boxer/lab) named Ezekiel Hezekiah Malachi Goldstein-Popp. But you can just call him Zeke. He is our up and coming agility star! We adopted him at about 2 years from the Michigan Humane Society. He was found as a stray in Western MI. Skinny, untrained, and sick. Now he is the most spoiled dog in the world.
Okay, I don’t have a dog, but my director came over and showed this video to me just now and I thought of this thread. “Talking” dog…hilarious!
Here is my puppy!

Well hes 10 years old so not really a puppy. He is a dachshund. Not the best choice when you have rabbits and other small animals but its easy enough to keep him separated from the small animals.
Okay, LPT…did jerseygirl poke you to make this thread? <.< …lol
I’ve been asked to post pix of Jenna, my Chiyorkie (chichuahua/yorkshire terrier mix, obviously) and although I haven’t finished editing them yet, here’s a few from our latest photoshoot:
She was a rescue dog (the lady at our local rescue was keeping her in the cab of her truck and although it’s pretty obvious she isn’t purebred-and later the ‘papers’ we were assured would prove her lines turned out to be something with her name, immunizations and breed on it typed in MS Word) we paid the $500 asked for her just to get her out of the situation she was in.
As you can tell by the pix, she doesn’t have the regulation silky coat. Don’t get too used to the ‘floofeh’, I need to give her a ‘puppy cut’…she is picking up way too many seeds, burrs and sticky leaves in her fur. She hates having her foot tufts brushed. And her chin whiskers get into her mouth and she winds up swallowing it. I swear I have more ‘wool block’ with her than the bunnies!
She was very timid when we got her and was supposed to be my daughter’s dog, but since I wound up sitting up all night with her for her first two weeks while she acclimated to us, she decided *I* was going to be her ‘mum’. It was too bad, I was kind of liking the term, ‘granddoggie’.
She is somehwere between 3 and 4 years old, if the rescue lady had a clue, our vet agrees it is probably correct. But in the last year she actually grew in length and gained considerable weight, so I am not entirely sure how old she was when we got her. Perhaps she was jsut malnourished.
Some of her first pix:
She is extremely loyal and very well trained..to a point she will NOT even use a puppy pad in the house, she will just hold herself till you open the door and take her out. When it’s -40 outside and pitch black, that is not a pleasant prospect.
She also does the arm/leg/foot/just bare skin licking and the crying when I leave. She gets so hyper when I return that she spins like a helicopter and yelps crazily. If I’ve been away particularly long, she’ll nibble the ends of my fingers. I sit down and she’s in my lap and won’t move for hours to keep me in one place.
I was determined not to get another dog after losing my MacKenzie River Husky, Shadow, a little over a year ago. He had to be PTS after developing kidney failure. He was THE BEST dog in the world. At least to me. I will never forget him, nor his son, Taiku, who also passed away about 6 months before Shadow died. They were the last two of a family of huskies/mix dogs we’d raised while living here for the last 15 years. I can’t find photos of everyone, but at least here’s one of my sweet Shadow:
Great thread!! I love dogs! They are my favorite animal besides bunnies
Everyone has such beautiful dogs!
This is Charley, my 9 year old Shih Tzu-Poodle. He’s getting up there with age but acts like a crazy puppy! I’m starting to notice his old age when we go for walks though, he gets tired pretty quicklt now :/ He’s awesome and loves everybody who he meets He’s really good with Thumper too except when she gets excited and freaks him out a bit.
Here is Butterball or Booboo or Booger when I’m mad at her She’s pretty rude when she wants to be, we don’t get along most of the time. She’s 3 pounds so she has to wear a sweater all the time or else she shivers so much
It isn’t a fashion statement!
Beautiful dogs!!! I love them all! I love looking at big dogs, they are so gorgeous, but I’ve always been a little dog person at heart. My favorite breed is the “Cavalier King Charles Spaniel” and I really hope to own one someday. They are pretty pricey around here though. I also like Springer Spaniels.
For those of you who don’t own dogs, what is your favorite breed?
Yay, I have no dog but can post about which dog(s) I really want.
I wanted a white bull terrier for a long time. I love their football shaped heads and that would cheer me up everyday.
Then I changed my mind and I now want a chow chow because they look like big teddy bears. Not sure about all that fur though.
I tend to prefer medium sized dogs. I’m really not a small dog (or a fluffy dog) person, but I’m not sure I could deal with a 100lbs of dog hair and slobber all over my house either. Haha. 30-50lbs seems just right to me.
There are so many that I love! Our first dog will be a brittany. I’d prefer a brown and white one, but those aren’t very common so I’ll take an orange and white one if that’s all I can find.
For years I wanted an Australian Kelpie. They’re hard to find around here as the breed isn’t AKC recognized and not many people own them. I’m also not sure a high energy herding and working dog is right for me.I love Border Collies, but wouldn’t get one for the same reasons. They’re so smart though! I like that they aren’t huge, but do have a little German shepherd look about them.
A good friend of ours has a Brittany/Beagle mix. She literally looks like a walking foot stool.
Beautiful dog!!!
Thank you
Oh wow…0_o He looks like my Kacey, who I had when I was in school…probably around 9-10 years old I was. He was shelter dog. His owners had abused him so he was removed from their home. I’d only had him a few months when he supposedly disappeared because they’d found our address and stolen him while I was at school. But I kind of think something else happened to him and my dad just didn’t want me to know what it was.
I don’t have any pix of him, but he looked almost exactly like that. All sable and white, no black on him. He was a great dog.
Starsky, what a cool name! ^_^
I’ve enjoyed looking over this thread. I love dogs but don’t have one of my own. I get my doggy fix from visiting my sisters family in the same neighbourhood. He’s a kelpie/ border collie cross and looovely.
MimzMum, Jenna is GLOWING. Wow, she looks so well kept now. She got like barbie doll hair. I’m sad the floofeh has to go but I understand why the floofeh has to go. I guess I can start poking you for post-floofeh pics now.
Lastly is my mothers terror. I am not one to dislike any dog but this dog is EVIL.
Sonn, this just makes me laugh! The words and picture don’t seem to match up but I know, we can’t go by looks alone.
Exactly, Jerz, which was why I hadn’t wanted a little dog. I mean, the one I had as a kid was gotten for me when it was a puppy, so we kind of grew up together and she was the kindest, sweetest little thing. But most tiny dogs I see today are soooo….*imagines many rows of tiny little needle teeth but growls big enough for a Great Dane*…well they seem to have a hidden agenda, let’s just say.
I’ll agree with you though…this little mop I’m looking at in Sonn’s post doesn’t seem like the evil type. But I’ll take your word for it! I suppose there is a ‘plotting to take over the world’ look in it’s eyes.
Jenna is all love muffin though. And so far she still has her floofeh, I just haven’t had time to trim her yet. Thanks for the compliments on her.
Lol he is! I swear! He is so fluffy and adorable but I am telling you there isn’t a nice bone in that dogs body other than to my mom.
He has little dog syndrome he thinks he is huge.
I have many many scars from that little snot. And don’t even think about touching “his spot” or you are likely to lose a finger or two lol.
When I lived with my mom my dogs were horrified of him especially Ziggy. If he was sleeping they would actually walk really really slow near him then bolt past him. He’s EVIL!
Don’t let the fuzz and innocent look fool you it is just a guise.
If he was sleeping they would actually walk really really slow near him then bolt past him.
I had image of dogs Playing Chicken. lol
Sounds like he’s nominated himself as your Mums protector.
