The hay I use is in a large plastic bag (Oxbow) and currently sits in the room looking a bit messy.  I’m looking for your suggestions to how to store it in a more appealing way if that makes sense?  I know it needs to breathe, so I don’t think closing it up in a tight container would work, so maybe a nice looking basket?  It’s such a large bag so I know I’m limited to what it can fit in, but I like keeping it in the room.  I’m trying so hard to keep the bunny room looking nice and neat, as much as they’ll let me lol.

So, how do you store your hay?  or is it stored in another room?

        Thanks!

Thanks mocha! I’ll have to keep looking for a bin, just haven’t found something I like yet.

Thanks bunnymad, no I’m not a new owner, so I’m definitely used to their mess!! lol I just wanted to make the huge hay bag a little more inconspicuous yet still accessible

Need somewhere to put mine too; I live in a small studio so big trash bag in my room doesn’t look nice. I was thinking of http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S09874610. Will this work?

I just use a plastic storage bin – I have one that the 9# bag of Oxbow fits nicely in, and that stays on a shelf in my closet. I can grab the bin and take it next to Riley’s cage when I need to fill his hay rack. When I lived in a house, I would buy larger quantities of hay, and just keep it in the garage.

I love the wicker hamper idea, but BunBun eats wicker . I wonder if wicker is harmful to eat- I wouldn’t mind replacing a bin every couple months if I could use one. I keep the hay right in the kitchen in a cardboard box and it looks awful.

i keep mine in plastic bins for the buns and the remaining of the bale is in the garage in a wheel barrow. just a few flakes at a time are int the bins. too hard to store a 45-50lbs bale of hay in the house!! lol

I keep my big 50lb box in the garage, then fill up a small tupperware type thing that I keep in the closet near the bunnies (it’s maybe 8″wx10″dx12″h)). The tupperware thing used to be enough for a couple days, easily, when I just had Otto, but now I use it in 1-2 feedings so it’s kind of a pain. The closet is tiny though, so not sure I could fit something much wider in there. The nice thing is that it’s small enough to fit into their cage where I keep the litter boxes and hay, so I don’t have to drop bits of hay everywhere in their pen while I’m filling up the hay racks.

haha my mom actually pointed out a full set of bedroom furniture made out of wicker and i started laughing when i imagined what Nova would do to that. i put mine in a big tubberware box, they come in just about every color and i dont close the back of the lid all the way.
