This happened with both of my boys after their neuters. Be sure to keep an eye on him. My guys bounced back within about 24 hours after the surgery. It is a traumatic thing to happen to them. The fact that he is a.) eating and b.) pooping and peeing, are really good signs. I would give him some time and observe him in the morning. Don’t hesitate to call your vet in the morning!

The shiny one he ate is called a Cecil I believe. There are images if you google I haven’t seen any yet, but I’ve heard of them.

Sounds like normal post-neuter activity to me. He may have low activity because of some pain (did the vet give you meds?) or leftover anesthesia from the condition…they’re usually down for a little bit after the procedure. It shouldn’t last too long though, especially for little boy buns. The kind of strange poops are normal too; I find that bunnies tend to make them when they’re under more stress. And getting neutered definitely is a stressor! Like Dee said, he may not be feeling super happy right now but as long as he keeps eating and pooping fine, then it should be okay.

Oh and, yes the strange looking poops are cecals. You usually don’t see them, because bunnies usually ingest them right as they come out. But like I already mentioned, you tend to see them more after things like stress for some reason.

My bun was this way after his neuter. He was barely eating, just laying in his litter box looking extremely traumitized, not at all himself. Would not eat his favorite treats at all. He was nibbling on hay. But it only lasted for about 24 hrs. By day 2 he was much better, and byway three he was “sneaking” and jumping on the table, which I thought I had prevented by pushing the chairs under!

My vet said that most bunnies know when something isnt right physically and will automatically eat more hay. Dont know if it’s true, but my bun would only eat hay for 48 hours. I was worried sick! But he was just fine. And he forgave me, in about five days. Lol.

my bun was also the same after his neuter. it’s a good sign that he ate his cecal! it only took a day or two for rorschach to bounce back. so just keep an eye on him, but he sounds like he’s doing fine =]

My bun is a male and had an incision on each testical only. Nothing on his abdomen, and they should not remove his penis unless there was some issue with it, such as cancer, and the definitely should have told you about that. I would call my vet and ask questions. Do not worry about “sounding stupid”. You are not a doctor, and the only stupid question is the one that was never asked!

It takes awhile for the scrotum to “shrink”.

Did he have an undescended testicle? That might explain an incision on the abdomen. Wooly had that problem. The vet was completely fooled until they went in to take the testicle out. Turned out there was just a fat deposit there. So they had to go fishing for the other one. They finally found it, but i felt really bad for Wooly since his surgery was much more intrusive than it should have been. I guess the deflated scrotum makes sense, since something is now missing from inside there. Hehe!

The penis is still there- if you apply pressure as if to determine the sex of a bunny- it will appear.
