Hi everyone, This is just kinda for fun and all so don’t go all out and all. What kind of bunny/bunnies do you have? When did you get them? what age were they when you got them, and what is their age now (how long you have had them. And last but not least. What did you pay for your furry friend?

also, Male or female, and fixed or not fixed.

Though many of us here have purchased bunnies, I think I can speak for many people in saying that our bunnies are worth so much more to us than the cash we handed over. Discussing how much we paid for them feels like treating them as an object, which many people are uncomfortable with – that’s why there was so much negativity in the other thread. I understand your interest in pricing, but I don’t think this is a topic many people like to discuss.

why does it matter? if i told you i paid $752 for rue, and $0.73 for puppet, would that make rue worth more than puppet? and for what it’s worth, they are both pure bred. rue is pedigreed, even. but nut puppet is worth just as much as she is. because i love them, and they bring joy to my family.

Just out of curiosity, why are you so interested how much bunnies are worth?

I agree with the others. Mine range from “found in the street” to a $500 lionhead whose family decided they just didn’t want him anymore and begged me to take him for free. And they’re all priceless to me.

Talking about them in those terms seems to reduce them to inventory and perhaps a more suitable topic for a website concerning breeding and selling for profit.

only my humble opinion, of course. We all know the bunnies actually own us.

Why don’t you just search ad sites in the community and the for sale sections. You can even search other cities besides you own area. Or, call pet stores in and out of your area. These are much simpler than asking in a forum that are full of ppl who love their pets and do not wish to think of them as commodity.

I paid a measly 6 million dollars for Still Nameless Mr. Bunny. He’s a lionhead, and I bought him at the appropriate 8-10 weeks.

Otto cost my self-esteem. It’s depressing when he gives me the bunny butt!

Hannah cost me some grey hairs. She’s always climbing up much higher than she should, then jumping off.

i refuse to discuss the amount my babies cost. They are my furbabies…not my couch, or stuffed toy or an ornament!

they are bringers of happiness and joy, fun and calmness…in me of course, not soo much them! lol

i do not own them like i do my car, they actually as we all know and many of us are in the same boat, own me.

Well I see we are all having fun here. I love the name Simba by the way. Came from the lion king “right”? I love that movie, I think it is one of Disney’s best movies of all time. A long time ago I had a kitten named Simba and my friend named her kitten Nala, they hung out all the time together. I do believe very strongly that a pet picks you, not the other way around. When I firs seen Dandela she was starring right at me in her cage, ignoring all her brother and sisters. It was like love at first sight. I asked them if I could see her, and they got her and handed her over to me. She was very mellow with me, even when I was giving her an exam, checking out her body, legs and muscles. I was going to be a vet so I knew what to look for and all. After that I held her more and she was still nice and relaxed. It was Hrs before I bought her. I knew she had picked me (animals can sense Animal lovers). After I got her home I let her chill out from the ride. hrs later she ate, and went poo. I was looking for all that, to see if it was loose or abnormal in anyway. Even right now this second I am keeping an eye on her. while I am @ school, my husband stays home and watches and cares for the house, pets, and our son Zach. So Dandela is never left alone. My husband held her for a long time last night, bonding with her and all. He loves her too, but I think he just likes her coat and the fact she don’t bite or nibble on you. They are getting closer everyday though. Only a matter of time and My husband will not give that bunny up. I can sense it.

She is a baby A warning, a bunny will, and can bite. Baby rabbits will tolerate handling, but a lot do not tolerate it as they get older.

I have to add, that no matter what I paid for Gracie, it was worth it. She went from living in a 2×2 cage in her own filth with no one to take care of her and being hit to being a spoiled diva. You can’t put a price on that.

just asking Monkeybun, are you saying your bunny owns the entire universe. or was it a typo and you meant money? If I had an infant supply of money I would pay anything as well. I raised over 150 rats at one time. had 3 huge cages, for the males, the females and the breeders. which with rats you need to keep dad around because he protects the young, the mother just really feeds them. rats are very smart. I even had hairless ones, I did not do any inset breeding. But a full grown rat was like $4 then. I gave all of them away in trade for a finch that my mother really wanted. so right there tell you I did not get what I could of for those rats. hairless ones are even more. and all mine were pets, none of them were feeders, just to be clear on that. But really add it up over 150 x4= what. and a finch cost what $15-$30. I really lost out on that one, but I was young and my mother really wanted that bird so I had to do it. I love making people happy and most of all my mother being happy.
My bun is not for sale, not now and not later. She is going to be fixed at 4 mos. or whenever my vet says the time is right. but Really would anyone like to know what I paid for her. it is a simple yes or no ? and that is it.

Monkey does own the universe, that is not a joke.

I am not interested in what you paid for your rabbit.

If you do not understand our responses in your topics about us not wanting to put a price tag on your rabbit, why do you keep pushing the issue?

If you want to share how much you paid for your rabbit, feel free to say. However, none of us have asked because, as we have said, it is not something we are concerned with. I’m glad you agree that being spayed is the best thing for your rabbit.

Would it be okay if I said Wooly didn’t (initially) cost me anything? Hehe! But he truly is worth a million bucks to me. No wait… I think probably more than that. He is the sweetest little bunny ever! I think I agree with the others, you can’t put a price on that.

This thread is now locked. The final answer is that people are more offended by the insistence of cost-price estimate/guess of your bunny. It’s going no where.

Everyone values their bunny and what anyone paid for theirs doesn’t matter here.

If anyone is truly interested in general cost — I’m sure a bunny could be bought for $10 at a flea market. A breeder can vary depending on the pedigree — $20 – $150 (average — though it can be more). Rescues and shelters can also vary – $30 — over a $100 (but many rescues do spay/neuter and a person actually saves money since they don’t have to pay for the surgery)
