› Forum › THE LOUNGE › Sooo…who’s staying up to watch the Royal Wedding?
My mum-in-law is all aflutter with anticipation. ^_^ She and her group of ‘old hens’ are going to have a special ‘tea party’ to watch the wedding by. Me, heck, I’m up that late anyway, may as well watch. I don’t recall the Charles/Diana one that well.
Anybody else?
I would, but I don’t have cable and the internet connection is so going to be slow from everyone watching it online lol.
I am going to try. But I looked it up on E! and they rebroadcast at 8am, so if I can’t stay up all night, I’ll at least be able to catch it later. Although not live. lol
No, I figure w/internet and cable and stuff, I will be able to catch it later.
I totally remember Charles & Diana and staying up to watch it – there was no cable back then (well not like now for sure) and no internet so it was really the only way and I was much younger then too so I could actually stay up late. It was fascinating to me at the time. I guess because we didn’t have internet and all the information and stuff we have now. I’m stoked to see what Kate Middleton looks like and what she wears but not as stoked as I was when Princess Di & Prince Charles got married. I guess to I couldn’t believe anyone as beautiful as Di would marry anyone as goofy looking as Prince Charles. I think Prince William is much more appealing so it’s no surprise he got such a pretty bride and well, now it’s not arranged too like Prince Charles & Princess Di either so that’s not quite as interesting since it’s not arranged.
I am
It will be on at 3 am my time.. I work at noon the next day for 4 hours so, why not? LOL!
I used to have a crush on Prince William when I was younger
Just until the sniper I hired finishes his job…
I am!!!
Im in england and its broadcasting to me at 11am and end around late afternoon
Its gona be amazing.
It’s sort of funny…I’m very much not interested in today’s royals but I am extremely obsessed with historical royals (the Tudors and Victoria especially) and my dream is to go to England to visit all the historical places. I just consider today’s royals just like all the other celebrities that I think are over-rated. So I won’t be watching it but I am curious to see what her dress looks like.
I have seen some footage of Diana’s wedding but I never watched the whole thing since I wasn’t born yet.
Bunnymad- What part of England are you in?
So I won’t be watching it but I am curious to see what her dress looks like.
That’s mainly why I’ll be watching. I just want to see what everyone looks like. lol I don’t really care that they are royals. But Prince William and Kate seem like lovely people and assessable so it makes me want to watch. I don’t know that I’ll watch all of it. I’m sure some channel will be broadcasting it all day long.
I will definitely look at pictures of her dress later. To watch the wedding I would have to get up before dawn here…no thanks.
I’m not a late night person (or a 4am person) so I won’t be up. I’ll definitely watch some highlights online the next day though!
I’ve never been into the royals much and was very young when Di was around, but I really like Kate – I have a bit of a girl crush on her! She’s so pretty and has a great sense of style. I can’t wait to see what her dress looks like. William seems like a nice down to earth guy too. They’ve had a lot of time to get to know each other and I hope their marriage works out long term.
I was almost 5 when Charles and Di got married an I only remember the event because our parents let us eat our evening meal in front of the TV. That was pretty special. Lol I don’t actually recall much about watching the wedding. heheh
I’ve been out of the loop regarding this up and coming royal wedding. I think I caught sight of a paper or advertisment last week and that prompted my memory that there was to be one “sometime this year”. Media has been on it for a while and I had no idea. Just as well because I would have got frustrated by all the hoo hah.
Well it looks like it starts at 4am and I get up at 5am so I’m sure I’ll be seeing photos and livestreams throughout Friday.
I was 18 when Charles & Di got married. And I remember it quite well. Even if it was 30 years ago. I also remember when Princess Diana died because I happened to be up late that night and out with some friends which is unusual for me and I wasn’t quite sure that what I heard was true on the radio because I was quite tired and probably had too much to drink but they did break for a special news bulletin. That was so tragic and sad.
I remember where I was clearly also, when hearing of her death. And thinking it was a hoax or something. I imagine is a little like how vividly people remembered the day Kennedy was assasinated or when Elvis died. I suppose in recent times, like when Michael Jackson died. When they’re larger then life it has quite an impact when they’re suddenly gone.
Well I can say I was too young to remember when Elvis died :~) I do love listening to him sing and watch him perform though.

Just until the sniper I hired finishes his job…
er…I am not sure that I would joke about that.
Helloworld!!
I thought it was Maryann posting.
I get sad thinking about how Diana will not be there to see her son get married. It is the same feeling that I get and will likely have when it is my turn to get married
I also remember when Diana died. I was watching tv with my parents and breaking news came on that she had been in a car crash so we followed the story on TV until they announced that she died. It was very sad. My mom was always a big Diana fan. Such a shame because she was such a wonderful humanitarian.
I’ll be watching it, coverage starts at 4am here, but the wedding’s at 6am. I figure I don’t have class til 10, so might as well throw a viewing party complete with tiaras and mimosas! And Dame Daphne, of course
Okay so who watched it or watched reruns – I’m sure you’ve seen photos LOL since it’s everywhere.
I watched it and enjoyed it very much. It was a nice reprieve from all the bad and sad news lately. I think Kate was sophisticated and glamorous. Prince William was dreamy and Prince Harry looks like he’d be fun to have at a party.
When I got out of the shower and was having breakfast at 7:00, they were just starting the recessional and parade, so I got to watch it. I loved her dress! She looked gorgeous. I feel like both Will and Kate seem so down to earth and fun (and Harry too, of course!)
Kate’s dress was amazing and elegant! I loved how it balanced a more conservative profile with modern fashion without looking too dowdy or anthing.
I read on BBC that apparently Prince William joked to Kate’s father while they were waiting, “”We’re supposed to have a small family affair.” Thought that was pretty amusing .
I, for whatever reason, woke up at 2:30am (on my own!!) and turned it on in time to see William and Harry walking down the aisle and greeting people. I also saw all of the royals get in the cars to the Abbey!
Is it bad that a feel slightly disappointed that William is off the table for good? Hehe.
My daughter and I watched to the end of the vows, then she decided to go to bed as she was tired. I think she expected there to be more to it than that, but with a sermon coming and at least an hour and a half before we would see them kiss on the balcony of the castle, she wasn’t up for waiting. I stayed up till 5 AM and then I couldn’t hold up any longer.
I don’t know, I thought it was beautiful and even cried some during it, but today I feel kind of…blah. It’s almost like seeing a terrific movie that you really get into or having a wonderful dream that seems real…then you wake up and realize you’re looking at the same four walls that aren’t nearly as spectacular as what you just saw and it’s a bit of a letdown.
However, I actually DID have a weird dream that the Queen and her company were IN my messy living room last night in all their wedding finery and I couldn’t figure out what they were doing there. When I woke up I was still feeling mortified that she had come to my lowly hovel in it’s dilapidated state! 0_o
Don’t ask me why…it was a STUPID dream….lol.
I stayed up alright
My friend and I kept updating and saying our reactions on FB lol. Chacha was in my room. When Kate came out of the car, I noticed that Chacha looked at the tv.. no joke
I love them both. I’ll be getting the new People mag.. if they are going to be on it . They are such a great couple
I didn’t watch it but couldn’t help seeing some parts of it since I was at my Mom’s and we were watching tv yesterday afternoon. I think her dress was beautiful…very classy. All those British wedding hats are ridiculous!
My little neices (aged 6 and 8) watched it before school and they were absolutely mezmerized! Being little girls all they think about is princesses and weddings so to watch a real live Princess wedding was very exciting for them. My mom and sister are planning to go see Will and Kate during their Canadian tour and I will probably go along just for the trip. I don’t think they are coming to NB but PEI I think which is only a couple of hours away.
Just hopping all the hype will die down now…that’s all I’ve been hearing about and seeing these last couple of weeks! I hope the tabloids let them live their life and not harass her like they did Diana.
The Dutch and Dutchess are doing a world tour? WHAT?O_O
Not a world tour, justa Canadian tour They will be goign to PEI, Alberta and the northwest territories i believe
They will be in PEI around the same time I will be! Hmmm…
NWT? Wow…if I can drive about 500 miles east starting right now I should get there in time! ^_^ What on earth are they going to the Yukon for??
WHAT!!!!!!
Somethign to do… make an official visit I suppose. Us Canadians still have the Queen on our money, may as well let the prince and his wife come for a visit
Yeah, seems a bit strange they are going to Northwest Territories. We’ve had quite a few royal visits. The Queen came to my City once, and Charles and Diana as well as the two Princes have been in the Maritimes. Never went to see them though.
