Hi guys so wanted to share Chomoper and Zoe’s new buddies. Two chicks!! a neighbor that lives around the block came up to me and asked if I wanted two chicks, he had bought them for his grandaughter for easter but they are kinda grown so they are no longer yellow and fluffy (what would make him think they would stay yellow and fluffy until easter ) so he asked if I would want them and said what the heck i have a hen already she could use the company, but turns out the hen doesnt really “like” them but Zoe just looooooooooooooooooooves following them around. Chomper is not so nice I think he thinks he’s a herd dog and chases the poor things around frightening them half to death< once he has them cornored he tries and grooms them but the chickies are not so into that.  I love the hens feathers though, and it would be nice to have some fresh eggs. The hen we have right now is a hen we found in our backyard that was injured so she doesnt lay eggs She’s still a bit sicky  but is waaaaaaaaay better she can actually walk now, YEEEEEEAAAHY!!!  she walks funny though. Anyways enough with the chattering, here are some pics.

The grey one is the hen.

And here are some of Zoe

Love the pictures. The chicks are so cute. Zoe is quite pretty too.

My neighbor brought me over to his backyard a couple weeks back and showed me his chicken Henrietta. He has a garage that he closes the doors to every night. He got up one morning and someone had got into his garage and left this big plump chicken in his garage and it was sitting on the box he puts his boots on at the door.

He still doesn’t know who put her in there but he kept her and built her this awesome chicken coop and a great enclosure so predators can’t get to her at night.

Those are pretty chicks! Glad at least zoe likes them! haha

I have no clue about birds really, but I’d just be cautious about possible diseases spreading to the buns.

Oh i know Lolli, im not really sure if there are diseases that birds can pass to bunnies but trying to do research to see what i find. Zoe just likes to follow them and see what they are up to and she binkies when she sees them run, lol. Chomper chases them and will corner them and try to groom but they just wont have any of that non sense, lol. But will keep an eye out. and Brittany I will have to owe you some pics of chomper, he was being a big bully w/ the chicks so his playtime was cut short =I so didn’t get to take a pic of him. He pounces on them and im scared he will hurt them. The rooster seems to be standing up a bit more and will poke him and i get scared the chick will poke Chomper’s lil eyes or nose so I try and keep them apart, the chickies really dont like Chomper his just too rough =( Oh and brittbritt i think thats what happened with the handicap hen I have. somebody must have thrown her over to my backyard =( lately when i go for my morning walk (cant jog anymore, feels too uncomfortable), ive been seeing a lot of baby chicks and buns, im guessing its the “easter fever” thing, my neighbor bought a baby duck!!!!!! sad cuz its cooped up in a very very tiny cage. Now Luna my 4yr old wants a duck but NO we don’t have the proper and adequate environment for a ducky. Im not even sure what ducky’s eat.

It does suck that so many people buy bunnies and chicks and ducklings at easter. like someone else posted, you don’t buy a reindeer for christmas, why buy bunnies/chicks for easter. they grow up into chickens and territorial grump wabbits!

My daughter has a special wish she always wishes on the first star. It’s for us to win some money so we can buy the pasture behind our house and put a pond on it where we can have ducks of our own. Also, to be able to go and get the pot belly piglet we rescued from the local pound and took to a dear friend who fosters animals.

Cute! I really like chickens. Most people don’t realize how much personality they can have (just like rabbits!). I would be concerned about mites though, I know chickens often harbor mites in their feathers…not sure if rabbits would catch those or not.

Great idea though, buying 2 chicks for Easter and having no idea what your going to do with them after. What possesses some people?

LMAO!!!! at the reindeer part that is soooo funny!!!! yeah chickens do have alot of personality just like rabbits and Chomper just wants to show them whose boss, lol!! So I did some research and it turns out that chickens can transfer coccidia to bunnies that sounds abd soooo i’ve made a vet appointment for the chicks to see if thhey are healthy or what and I will be containing the chicks to the back yard and bunnies to the front until the chicks get cleared from the vet. oh and Brittany here some Chomper pics.  sorry they are not outdoor but the chicks were out there yesterday so I dont want them playing out there at the moment.

Sorry he’s having a bad hair day his shedding
