I took Gabby in Wednesday morning and dropped her off to get spayed. I talked with the vet’s office yesterday afternoon and she made it through the surgery and was recooperating well. They wanted her to spend the night just to make sure she was okay. I was expecting to pick her up today and when I spoke with the vet she said Gabby’s incision sight looked good and she was eating well. She had not had a bowel movement yet and didn’t want her to go home until she had one.

I’m an hour and a half away from the vet’s office and they were going to call if she had pooped before 4 pm where I could make it to pick Gabby up before they close. I never heard back so I assume she still had not pooped yet. I’ll be calling in the morning to see if I can pick her up. I miss her so much and want to see her so badly.

I’m so sorry this is happenig..
It happened to me as well. My bunny was at the vet for 2 days. I was worried sick, but I knew that if somewhere were to happen, she would be at a place where she could be treated. I kept calling the office during the day to check up on her and they eventually asked me what kind of litter she uses.

I’m sorry brittbritt, I can’t even imagine how much you must miss her and just want to see her.  But LoveChaCha is right, at least she is somewhere where she can be treated if anything were to happen. Try to look at it this way, at least you know that the vet has her best interest at heart by making sure she goes home when the time is right instead of just sending her home just because they don’t want to look after her. Sounds like she’s being well taken care of there and hopefully will be home soon!

Thanks for the comforting words. I completely trust my vet’s office. They also are my bird’s and guinea pig’s vet. I just wish she could be here but hopefully tomorrow will be when she can come home.

Nice Sounds like an exotic vet.
Yeah, I hope she comes home tomorrow too. I felt like there was something missing from my heart when she wasn’t at home with me. There wasn’t any chewing noises on her house to ‘let her out!’ She got a little bit of alfalfa hay according to the vet.. that was the only time she had that LOL

Make sure she can’t jump onto things when she gets home Keep us updated.

She’ll have to stay in the laundry room then since she can jump up on our chairs and couch. That’s the only way she can not hurt her stitches. How long should she be confined to not jump up?

I hope she is ready to go home tomorrow, but if she’s not, maybe you could go for a visit. When my cat was stuck at the vet for a serious illness longterm, they let me sit in the kennel area and visit with her a few times. The vet thought it made her feel better as well as me.

When I took her I brought along the pellets and hay she eats. I also have a ty beanie baby Monkey I sent with her so it smells like home while she’s there. It’s usually in her room with her.

Healing (pooping) vibes for Gabby! Hugs for you!

Like the others said, she’s in the best place in case she needs help right away. Try and relax, easier said than done I know… but she will be home soon. Your vet’s office sounds very good! You are lucky!

Thanks again for the well wishes for Gabby. I called the vet’s office and I can pick her up today after 2. So I’ll be leaving in a little bit to go get her. I’ve got her a big salad packed for the way home in case she’s feeling hungry.
