What are your thoughts about letting each bunny spend time in the other’s cage and litter box? I’m worried that this could make them more aggressive towards the other, knowing that “the invader” has been in their territory.  Has anyone had any positive results with this? I want to try some things that I didn’t do last time with Bindi and Stormy and maybe have success this time.

I switched the buns between the pens every 24 hours and I feel it was very useful for mixing up their scents.

So you kept them in the other pen for the whole 24 hours?

I believe Monkeybun did this with Smudge and Monkey, but I’m not sure how long she kept them in each other’s pens for.

Monkey and Smudge did great in each others pens. They got curious, but even cranky monkey didn’t get upset

It really put my pair in a tizzy for about a half hour or so. They had to run around chinning everywhere and “making their mark” in poops… but each time they switched, it became less of an issue… Eventually, during individual exercise time, the free bun would just jump into whichever pen was open to use the litterbox and then hop back out.

Thanks for the feedback. I’m going to try it but just for a short period at first.

I couldn’t do this as Otto’s pen was something I knew Hannah could escape from (she actually jumped in with him one day while she was out for playtime – I almost had a heart attack), but I think it’s a really good idea and would’ve done it if I could.

better for them to have a tizzy there, and then get used to it. It’s more about helping them get used to the other’s scent. (Tizzy fits included) LOL.

However, each bonding experience may need some tweaking and sometimes a gut feeling by an owners takes priority. How did this end up working for you?

I think that BB (at least I know that they were a forum leader) made a stunt double using the shedded fur from one rabbit and putting it in a stuffed animal, the forehead. Then she placed the stuffed animal in the room with the other while it was out. If I remember correctly, she said that at first they were aggressive towards it but then eventually, once they found out that the other was not exhibiting aggression, calmed down and eventually snuggled with the stunt double before meeting. Maybe that would help and I will try to figure out where I read about that in this site…sorry that I do not know off hand. You know, I think this had to do with Vivian and Jack so yes, I do believe that it was BB. I might know where it is now… be back when I find the place….She totally just beat me to the punch, lol. I cannot believe I did not see her post before now. Anyway, will still post in case it helps unless they already bonded.
