ARRGGGH. So I have two male buns who haven’t been neutered yet. (Monday is their appointment for their pre-op examinations, I will be SO HAPPY when they get neutered!) ANYWAY.
So I haven’t identified the culprit yet, but ONE OF THEM is using the litter box as a dig box! THey are jumping into the litter box and digging and therefore throwing all of the litter out of the box and into their cage. What the heck is this about? Should I provide them with a dig box of some sort? If so what type of filling should I use in the dig box that the buns will like? I’m wondering if I should change litters. Right now we are using something that is similar to Carefresh and the buns do not seem to like it at all. I mean I know their litter box habits will greatly improve after they are fixed, but in the meantime they have been *trying* to use the litter box until this littler behavior started.
ANy advice? What is a good size for a dig box and what is a great filling to put in it?
Also I know this debate has come up before, but what is your favorite litter? I’ve heard a lot of good things about wood stove pellets. Where would I find such a thing? I’d never heard of them until recently. We do have a horse and feed store here in our town, would I be able to find something decent there? Thanks a lot!
