Hi guys – I’m new to this forum and just thought I would ask about where to find a good bunny sitter?  I have two younger neutered males, about 10 months (Samson and Maxwell) who are bonding right now.  Ideally they will be bonded by the time I go, but we’ll see.  My one male, Maxwell, is a little more difficult than Samson (see post in bonding if you have suggestions).  I currently live in the Milwaukee area and will be gone for about a month – end of may to end of june.  I’m volunteering with a rural area veterinary program in the Dakotas and really looking forward to it, but don’t have any bunny savvy friends/relatives to leave them with while I’m gone.  I have no preference whether or not the bunnies stay in my apartment or go to someone else’s place for the month – whatever is easiest.  Message me back if you live within the Milwaukee area, or know of a resource who might know where I can find a good sitter.  I realize a month is a long time to be gone and will of course pay accordingly for good care and the time involved! Thanks for reading!

I know some of the vet techs at my vetrinary clinic do pet-sitting as a side thing… maybe that would be an option? Otherwise… does WI have a chapter of the House Rabbit Society or Companion Rabbit Society? If so, they might also have some leads…

My local rescue has a bunny sitter. Is there a local rescue that may offer a sitting service?

My vet will board a bunny at her office. She is an exotics vet and is set up to board birds and small pets, but not cats or dogs. They take good care and are reasonably priced per day. I have peace of mind because I know if anything happens, she’s already right there with the vet.

You can call a few exotics vets in your phone book to ask if any do boarding on site.

My local rescue offers boarding. My vet does as well.

I found my pet sitter through http://www.petsit.com. The pet sitters there are registered and it’s easy to search by your location. I think to be a part of that site they must be insured and certified.

I found mine by googling all the pet sitters in my area and sending them each form email questioning their policies, practices and experience. I chose mine because of how thorough her answers were, her experiencce, and that she is insured and registered with the Canadian pet services thing; also she has pet first aid and came to the house for quite a long meet and greet with the bunnies and to go over everything.
I have used her four times now i think and she’s fabulous
