OK, so my bun Oliver (who will be 10 this august) just started snoring like 2 or 3 years ago. It’s progressively gotten louder and now he’s so loud it was freaking out me and friends while we were watching Paranormal Activity in the dark last weekend lol  My question is, is this normal with aging or do I need to get him checked out? He’s one darn healthy bun and I’ve never had any problems with him beyond a simple eye infection like 4 years ago. He sleeps a lot more now, which i expected since he’s gettin up there in age. I just want him to have the happiest, most comfortable life and as cute and funny as it is, his snoring has started to concern me.  Any thoughts?  (I think i saw a post on this somewhere dated for a long time ago, but it wasn’t very explanatory).

I have a rabbit who snores alot and he’s around 8 years old. As for having him checked out, I highly recommend this with a rabbit at his age. I would do a full blood panel just to see what might or might not be going on and this can also serve as a baseline in case he does get ill. As rabbits age as well they could start to develop dental problems as their bones age so having the vet check his teeth would be a good idea as well.

The majority of my rabbits are over 8 years old (except one) and I did a routine check up with bloodwork on all of them and plan to do it annually or semi-annually as I’ve always taken my rabbits in for annual exams at the vet.

As a senior bunny-he should get a health exam at least once a year if not twice a year! My elder bunnies did snore too but always good to know why-a trip to the vet can’t hurt might help

And zomg=we need a video=that is too funny

It could just be like people. Some snore, some don’t. I have a 14 year old cat and sh is teeny, barely 6 pounds and her snoring is horrible!!!! I hear her over my ear plugs at night
