        Hello everyone,

I have noticed my bonded pair Lago and Panko have started fighting over the oxbow papaya treats. If I give one to one of them, the other tries to grab it from the other’s mouth and starts a fight. I can’t give the other one his/her treat fast enough to prevent the scuffle. They tend to growl at each other, nip, and chase. Is this a threat to their bond?

        Edit:

5 minutes later, they’re looking all cuddly again. Maybe I’m being paranoid.

Cute picture. They should hopefully work this behavior out.

Hopefully they’ll work it out. Mine get fidgety when the other gets a treat and sometimes start humping if I’m not quick enough. I would just try giving treats with both hands, one to each bunny, for a little bit and see if it calms them down to realize they’re both getting a treat.

Mmm..Lago still looks miffed though. Lol!

Try give same time or break one in half and feed that way. I’m getting a bit of this lately with giving pellets. Jersey gets all impatient and growly and takes it out on Rumball. Then he stands up to her and chases. And they carry on. I try make them stop their antics before I give the pellets but they repeat it a few times before that happens. The fact your pair do get over it fairly quickly is a good sign. Might just be how it is with them.

I’ll see if I can try to give them treats at the same time. The last time I did that, they only noticed one of them and started fighting over that one. Geez. I wish they would look at my other hand and see the other treat.

As for Lago looked miffed, she might have been from the camera. She gets annoyed pretty easily, especially from the flash.

Jersey, Hannah gets “hangry” (hungry+angry) too when we’re feeding. If we put down only one bowl, she’ll try to chase Otto away from it. We’ve learned to put their pellet bowl and two veggie bowls down at the same time so she doesn’t feel the need to compete for it. Silly rabbits!

I have to treat Meadow first. Max will patiently take his treat second, and then run off with it.

If I treat Max first, Meadow will take it out of his mouth. If it even looks like I am about to give Max a treat, Meadow comes running towards us full speed.

Panko loves to hide and when Lago gets an oxbow veggie treat, he starts running and snatches it and runs away as well. Lago doesn’t seem to care too much about the veggie treats, but when he takes her papaya, she gets so mad. When I give them papaya, they will both try to steal from each other and growl, nip, and chase.

Haha, such a funny topic. Cute picture too! Mine get like this too, although they aren’t mean with each other just…greedy. Comet is such a food hog and sometimes Chubs just has enough and will give him a good nip but usually they just nudge each other and try to run away with the thing first. I try to treat at the same time to avoid that!
