I have two bunnies Jasper who is 3 years old and has lived with us almost that long and then our new addition Frankie. We don’t know how old Frankie is but we are guessing around a year or so. Frankie came to live with us almost 2 months ago. For the first few weeks we let the boys be housed next to each other and they would sniff and groom each other through the pen bars. We waited until after they were both fixed and until we had moved to allow them to have play time together. They did great together cuddling, grooming, playing, sharing food ect. Now all of a sudden they are fighting even in neutral territory. The fights are getting pretty bad the last one they were locked together rolling around the living room. We get them seperated asap so far injurys are minor. Any suggestions, tips or tricks would be wonderful.

Have you tried a session in a carrier or box? Sometimes they won’t fight in smaller spaces. A car ride in a carrier can do magical things

Going back to step one (stressing in a car or atop a washing machine) will help prior to a bonding session in a neutral space. If they were just neutered, the previous “bond” was likely more due to the high levels of hormones. Some of that carried over after the neuter, but now they are wondering what the heck this other rabbit is doing in their space. Have they been living together full-time until this point?

I haven’t tried the car yet. I’m still waiting for my husband to put the back row of seats back in my van. Once that’s done we are gonna try a car ride and see if it helps. Thank you.

They were living together full time for about a month. At the moment Frankie lives in my bedroom in my daughter play yard and Jasper is in the living room in a x-pen. I’m giving them a few days before we start again though I’ve been sick and they need to mellow out some. I hadn’t realized that so much hormone was still in their systems for so long after getting neutered. We’re gonna try the car ride soon and see if that helps. I also heard of people using a laundry basket as a small space in the house to get them close together without fighting so we might try that too. Thanks for you help and the link. I read through the info in the link and that helps a bunch.

Also, a neat idea cube in a small square to put on a washer while its going. It causes stressors and the rabbits have to rely on each other.
