Did he just chew the lino, or did he actually eat it? If he chewed and left the pieces, we might be alright. If the lino is chewed and the pieces are gone, this could be a big problem.
Anytime a rabbit eats something they should not, (which is often because 1. like babies, they explore with their mouth, 2. they have a natural tendency to clear their territory of “obstacles” in case they need to “escape from a predator”, and 3. they know they need to chew items in order to keep their teeth in good shape), you need to watch them very, very closely for any change in eating and pooping. When eating non-food items, they put themselves at risk for a slowdown or blockage of the gut.
If the bunny doesn’t eat, poop, or is acting “off” for 12 -24 hours, vet care is necessary. The vet can deliver the necessary sub-cutaneous fluids to assist with hydration, gut motility drugs, and do xrays as needed.
Money is a huge issue for many people, and it rarely STOPS being an issue. An emergency vet fund, or a special VET-ONLY credit card is a very good idea to help when the unexpected comes up. We’ve taken on the responsibility of our pets and this includes seeking vet care when needed. Do you have a rabbit vet that you go to for check-ups? We may be able to help you locate one if not.
