Background: we thought we adopted  2 females and of course, one is a male! We sperated them immediately but they can still see each other. The male was very calm and easily handled while they were together. Ever since the separation he has not been able to be picked up and thumps at us! I understand he misses his mate but will this improve?

He also has not been eating as well. He does eat some pellets but not much of his fresh veggies. Some days are better than others. He is pooping/eeing so I know he’s OK overall.

We ARE getting him nuetered ASAP. Should be expect any improvement now or not push it since we’re getting him nuetered and that will likely make a difference?

        Thanks for any advice.

Don’t do anything in terms of re-introductions until at least two weeks, preferably four, weeks after his neuter and her spay. Side-by-side housing is a good idea even now, though. I would give him time to adjust to being single for this time. He will come around. As long as he eats his hay he’s fine.

I wouldn’t pick him up unless it is necessary. A majority of rabbits dislike being held, even iff it is the correct way.

He sounds like a ball of hormones right now!
