I seem to remember that there was a topic like this a long time ago, but BB has probably doubled in size since then, so I figured I’d make a new one. ![]()
What’s your favorite rabbit breed? In case you don’t know what your favorite breed is called, here’s a list of recognized breeds.
There’s a lot of breeds that I love. Here’s my top 5:
1. American
2. Britannia Petite
3. Thrianta
4. Giant Chinchilla
5. Californian
Top ones:
1. Nethie
2. Loppy
3. Fluffy.
4. Cute.
5. Floppy.

Wow, so hard to pick! I like medium sized bunnies in general (4-6 lbs)…as freaking adorable as little nethies and lionheads are, I just can’t seem to make myself take them seriously, lol. I also like my buns to have a little bit of heft to them when I play with them, so that it doesn’t feel like they’re weightless in my hands. Undecided on lops…sometimes their heads look like big silly basketballs
. But then again that’s kind of cute…hm.
Never mind, can I just put all of the above? Haha ![]()
I guess at present, it’s double-maned lionheads – I just love the shaggy-banged little fluffy English sheepdog bunny and Emo-haired buns I live with. I loved Buddie, my former little cinnamon sable point lionhead as well and I will always have a soft place in my heart for the breed of my first bunny, Lash – an orange Netherland Dwarf. Those are the only two breeds I’ve owned, but since seeing the pictures of so many different types of buns on the BB site, there are other breeds I’d like to have some day, as well. I’d like to own a Holland lop some day, a bun like Elrohwen’s Otto – or is it Hannah? – the one in her avatar, and a blue lionhead someday. Where I live, I only am allowed a limit of two bunnies under my lease, and I hope someday to bond Dustor and Petie and give them more space.
Oh that’s hard! So many!
My top ones are (doing top 10 I can’t just pick 5 lol)
1. Lionhead
2. Tan
3. Silver Marten
4. Palomino
5. Mini Rex
6. Harelquin
7. Holland Lop
8. Dutch
9. Giant Angora (no clue if this is an actual breed)
10. Thrianta
I picked mini rex because that was my first bun and that is what Thistle is, but I have always had a sot spot for dutchies! <3 I was seriously considering not getting Thistle and waiting to adopt a dutch but I couldnt resist Thistle's cute baby fatness! lol
Sonn, I’m sure you’ve answered this before, but is Pacey a lionhead?
I chose the mini lop cause that’s what Eddie was. I would like to get another. But how could I not like mini rexes? lol I also like Californians because that’s the breed of my friend’s rabbit and she’s a big ole marshmallow. I also really want a lionhead.
Yep Pacey is a lionhead
Ugh I’m a sucker for all my rabbits…but something about Bun’s himi markings …that’s what drew me to her in the first place. I was like, “OMG SIAMESE CAT BUNNY I NEED HER!!!!!” And those little ears….they are to die for! hehe!
1. Netherland Dwarf
2. Polishes
3. Silver Marten
4. Silver Fox (SO RARE BUT GORGEOUS. Reminds me of a big version of my Chacha bun mueheheh!!!)
5. Dutchies
My absolute favorite breed is the one who needs a warm, loving home.
But as far as preferences, I prefer medium to large-sized, uppy-eared, short-haired rabbits. I guess your standard, “American” domestic breed. Altho cute, I don’t think I would choose to have a ND or a lionhead; I really didn’t want a lop, but Mike did, so now we have Max (and he’s grown on me).
Well of course I love all the breeds big and small, including mixed bunnies. But I have to admit I have a sincere fondness for Mini-Rexs. Probably because my original rabbit, Stormy, is a Mini-Rex and I just love their fur so much. But I’m also a sucker for a squishy-faced lop!!! And of course, whatever beautiful mix created my gorgeous Olivia. I also love, love, love REWS, both lop and uppy-eared.
Of course I voted for Flemish Giants. I also love French Lops, Giant Chinchillas and New Zealand Whites.
All bunnies are beautiful though!

Yay! I was hoping someone would also say French Lops!
.
Definitely French Lops are my favorite, but I may be biased.
. English Lops would be my second favorite. I also like Flemish Giants.. any of the large breeds with short hair, really. I love the gentle, laidback, lazy nature. ![]()
I forgot to say English Lop. Such a beautiful rabbit!
I love rexes and mini rexes : D
Not only do they have amazingly soft coats, but they seem to have such GOOFY, fun personalities! They’re naturally curious and love to be wherever you are, in the middle of things, checking out everything new and anyone they’ve never seen before, and they’re so responsive to affection and bunny games : )
Holland lops all the way! I can’t resist their cute smushed in faces and floppy ears.
Lionhead mixes…I adore those ears and little tufts of fur, so cute. And whatever Rufus is. ![]()
1. Holland Lops
2. Lionheads
3. Netherland Dwarf
4. Angora
I love holland lops for their cute smooshy faces and floppy ears too, Elrohwen. I love how their ears flop when they hop and run.
The ones I have right now which happen to be 2 bunny mixes, 3 Dutches and 1 Netherland Dwarf.
I picked Rex (my first and favorite), but you forgot to list English SPOT, which is uppy eared, and also Herself, Miss Samantha Bunnykins.
I like my bunnies well bred – clean, chew with their mouths closed, good table manners, say please and thank you. Hard to come by.

LOL! Not sure if you would like Peppy bun…I swear all she does is GIMME GIMME GIMME! And you might have seen what a messy eater she is too. ![]()
LOL
Was she the one with the orange leeps? I may need to see a messy reminder.
double maned lionheads
lion lops
nethies
angoras
Dutch-they are so smart and beautiful. But I don’t think there is a bunny I could find and think is not stunning and lovable. I’d LOVE to have a giant one day.
K&K, the way animals find you, I half expect that this summer a Giant will drive up in a VW, hop out and pull out a bag announcing: “I’m here! The travel mag. said this is THE place to stay on a Canadian vacation.” ![]()

Yup, orange…and green! I sure do have a colorful bunny..
. Not sure if you caught them, but I posted some pictures of my uncouth little girl chowing down recently: binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/aft/114172/Default.aspx
You don’t have Rhinelanders up there
Those would by my favorites because I love their hefty size and beatiful cheetah print noses!
My other favorites are flemis, dutchs, and siamese.
Oh how could I forget about Rhinelanders!?!? They are absolutely gorgeous! =)
Mutts!
I love my lionhead boy he WAS a blue but since he hit 6 months he’s turning a dark agouti colour with a blue mane which is like a Beatle moptop!!! I’d Love to hav a short haired bun though because you can’t see his expressions too well and he doesn’t take a very good photo lol ![]()
I love mini rexes, especiialy my BEW, he’s my favorite. I can’t help having favorites.
What, no love for the Hotot? I guess I have a thing for eyeliner. ![]()
Hotots are cute. We can’t forget the eyeliner bunnies The Cleopatras of bunnydom
