Has anyone here seen this PBS “Nature” program? I was watching it last night and caught the last 15 minutes of the repeat today as well…I’ve never seen something so sad in my life. I had to use a lot of Kleenex. I’ve always loved the big cats, lions and tigers especially. That there are only 1400 tigers left wild in India is so depressing.

What animals (besides bunnies of course) are your favorite “cause animals?” Did you ever wish you had one as a pet when you were a child?

I was just looking through the tv guide thing on comcast and saw that show on PBS. I can’t watch those shows cause it just makes me feel too bad. I know that probably seems horrible of me, but ever since Eddie passed away, I just can’t seem to deal with death very well. I just turn into a depressed, blubbering mess. lol

Tigers are my favorite. Definitely wanted a tiger when I was little. Also an elephant, horse, cow. We had 2 1/2 acres of land and most of it was just used for grass growing, so I thought up A LOT of uses for it. Including a pool. LOL I also like bears, dolphins, cheetahs, gorillas….lots of animals.

I have bought about 12 books off amazon lately about tigers, lions and vets in Africa and safaris. I’ll PM about you to see if you want to read them after me, they are AWESOME!! right now I’m reading “Whatever you do, don’t run, tales of an African Safari Guide” It’s REALLY good!!!

My TV never changes off of Animal Planet.

Well, I usually have a bit of trouble reading books lately, because my eyes are so bad, but I’d be glad to give it a shot if you’d like to send them. Thanks Lin! (Um…btw…is this one you mentioned filled with any gory details of guides being eaten, because I think I’ll have to bleep over those parts…lol) 0_o

I remember when Born Free came out…that was a wonderful story. And you mentioned awhile back the story of Christian. I can’t tell you how much I wanted a lion or cougar cub as a kid. My hubby worked at the Wildlife Waystation in Southern California when he was a teen. I love hearing his stories about it.
Would anyone here recommend donating to a group like World Wildlife Fund? Since I doubt I’ll ever get to travel to any of these exotic places, I just wish I could do something to help.

Michelle, I’ve always wanted an elephant! I love elephants! I’ve seen quite a few specials on their lives and families, they are fascinating! But I have to admit, gorillas scare me to death. 0_o

BT, we get to see the wolves up here quite a bit. They are truly terrifying in real life. (Not as bad as realizing a bear’s gone by though. We had some bear scat in our back yard one of the first years we were here…I refused to go outdoors for weeks after that!)

I can’t stand that the state allows the wolves to be shot from bush planes. I hope someday we’ll see an end to the practice of aerial wolf control. It completely disgusts me.
