Happy to announce the adoption of Ms. Frosty. My other girly bunny, Clover, passed away in January (see thread on Rainbow Bridge). I’m one of those who likes to get a successor (not a “replacement” – because everybunny is unique!) soon. And so I adopted Frosty from the rescue club I’m involved in. She’s a big cuddly Californian-marked Rex girl. My first Rex, so it’s a learning experience. She was bewildered and nervous for about a day but now she’s beginning to explore and make herself at home. My other bunny, Shamrock, is a bit disapproving but they got along on neutral territory so hopefully they will bond in time. If not, they can take turns running, as some of my buns have done. I’m glad to have two lovable furbabies again.

Hurrah on your adoption! Is she Ms Frosty because of her attitude or coloring?

Frosty girl is settling in well. Very playful and spunky. Shamrock is not always sure what to make of her. She’s bold and comes right up to his cage and he scratches at the side like, “Hey, lady, don’t be pushy!” I try to give them both plenty of lovin’s so neither feels neglected and so they see the change both of their lives have undergone as a positive thing! Hopefully this will encourage bonding when they are used to each other.

I need to talk again to our group leader and see if we can pin down an approximate age for Frosty – so I can estimate a birthday for her! She came to the rescue pregnant and had her babies 10/27/09. One of my friends has one of the daughters, and another friend is taking one of the sons on a trial basis to see if he will bond with their current bunny. So the guesstimate is that my girl is 3 and I’m not sure how that was determined – maybe she’s younger. I’ll have to check on that.

Anyway, the name Frosty was given by our leader because they have a dwarf boy with the same markings so she became Ms. Frosty.

She is big – 9-1/2 pounds. She’ll probably lose a bit of weight, right now she’s pleasingly plump, LOL. She’ll get more running time now so she’ll run off any extra weight as energetic as she is.

I would be grateful to anyone who can help me with “How to Load Photos To Binkybunny For Dummies.” I have not had success yet!

I really think a pictoral “how to” would be a useful addition to the TECH section. Sometimes it’s more confusing when using just words and there are several methods too. For putting a picture within your post I find it easiest to use the attachment feature. Firstly though, check the picture(s) files are each under 300kb. If not, you will need to resize them. I like to save copy under new name so they’re easy to find the smaller version.

To attach, edit your post or add new one using “Add Reply” not “Quick Reply”
Click on the arrow on the attachment bar found at bottom.
Click Browse – this should take you to your picture files on your computer.
Select the pic you want and click Open. The pathway info should then show in the attachment bar. You then need to click “Upload” (to the right)
Now you should see the file name, size and a few icons in the attachment bar. Click on “Insert image” icon and it will appear where ever you have the cursor placed in the text box.
                    Hope that all makes sense!

I had a bit of time on my hands so I made a pictoral picture-inserting guide! I’m looking forward to seeing more bunnies

Thanks for the help with the picture issue! I will try those.

Someone more techy than me answer this – with digital cameras advancing so fast (mine was a 2008 Christmas present, 7 megapixels point and shoot, and newer cameras I see have megapixels are in the double digits) – how do you get a picture small enough for uploading to a lot of websites? It seems like everything is in KB and my files are well over 1 MB sometimes 2 MB or more???

Or is there something that I don’t know about? I admit my tech knowledge is rather piecemeal.

You can use the software called Paint, which is free, to open any photo. Then just click the Resize button to make it smaller. Save it as a copy (I think it does it automatically) and try to upload the copy instead.

It should be listed in your Programs list under Windows, Accessories. It comes with most Windows software.

I find MS Paint the easiest also. It can still have a reasonable width and height (say, 600×800 pixels) but saves it in much smaller file size (kbs).
When I open an image in paint it can look super sized. I change the dimension by change Sketch and Skew to 15 or 20% so I can actually see the pic on the page!

Thanks – yeah, I fiddle around with Paint from time to time to make art. Does it compress the file, is that how it does it? Or should I just shut up and if it works don’t try to understand how, lest I give myself a brain-ache, LOL!?

Anyhow, I’ll sure give it a try. Maybe that will solve a lot of problems I’ve had with pictures . . .
