        Hello all!

Ok, so I had a question about the feline pine litter. I used this for the first 4-5 months of having Riley. When we went in to do his neuter, his blood work revealed high liver levels, so we postponed his neuter a month. The vet suggested that it could be the feline pine litter, so I switched to yesterday’s news, and in a month his levels were back to normal.

Now, I’ve never used feline pine since, and I won’t, but I was wondering if anyone else had had issues with it? I know that pine and cedar shavings can be bad for small animals, but I had always read that the pelleted pine was ok. I’m fairly convinced otherwise now, since the litter is the only thing we changed between blood work.

        Thanks!

We use F.P. and absolutely love it. But in our litter pans we use a screen over top the pellets to collect the poo. I posted some pics in this thread. https://www.binkybunny.com/FORUM/tabid/54/a…fault.aspx

You’re thinking Riley’s chewing the pellets? Or that the smell of the pellets is causing the problem?

            Hi Mr. Bill,

Nice set-up! Sorry, I should clarify that this was 4 years ago, when Riley was a baby, but I have always been curious about it.

I don’t think he was eating the pellets at all, I think it was only the smell. Or maybe oils from the pellets getting on him, which you wouldn’t have? Not sure.

I know F.P. does have a pretty distinct pine smell to it. It’s not overpowering.. but you’re not going to not-notice it either. F.P. is advertised as chemical free and 100% natural.
