        Okay guys,

I just got a new bed in the room– and it is on a frame now. It used to be on the floor and Spooky could get on it. But now its off the floor. The first couple of days he seemed really scared of it and wouldnt come out of his cage. THen he grew to liking it because he realized he could go under it! Well that lasted a while– but now he has started to become afraid of it again. He runs franticly and hides under the bed and thumps whenever I move on the bed! I feel so bad becaues I don’t want to scare him but I can’t just stay completely still all the time! He is fine when I’m off the bed and he can see me, but he freaks out when I move when I’m on the bed. I’m guessing he can’t really see me up there and it spooks him. But I don’t know what to do! HELP

Maybe he just needs to get used to it? It seems so odd that he’s afraid of it now that it’s elevated! My Nibbler loves the bed, he loves to sleep under it and I discovered the other day that he can now jump on the bed (I got a surprise wake up call of feeling something very fuzzy making it’s way under my covers and rubbing against my leg!) Haha.

I wish I could help more, but I think it may just take some time.

If you don’t mind having him on the bed, and he wants to be on it with you, I would suggest making a little stair or ramp for him to get up on it so he can get used to it and see you. If he climbs and jumps easily, just a box next to the bed on one side should be enough to allow him to take it in two jumps. Make sure it isn’t slippery for him so he doesn’t fall.
