I have not been on in a while! How is everyone?

Pixie is almost 1 years old and doing great. In the last hour she has had diarrhea. She has been locked in her room that is considered “her room” that has her cage in there. I had to clean up her diarrhea poop all over her cage. Is there anything i can give her. Also she has poop on her butt and when I try to wipe it she bites me. She has been very territorial of her space too. If she is in my daughters room she will go under their bed. When I try to get her out she bites me or lunges at me. Very frustrating to me….any sugguestions?

if your bun has diarrhea it needs to see a vet ASAP. I’ve read so many stories of buns dying very very shortly after diarrhea, so I hope you can get her into a carrier and get her to the vet right away! Let us know what happens please, sending good vibes your way!

Is your bunny spayed? because of her age and the way she is acting could be hormones. If she is spayed, It could mean she is in pain and she doesn’t want you to touch her so thats why she is biting and lunging at you. Is this behavior normal?

Please take Pixie to the vet right away!! Dairrhea is a very dangerous symptom in bunnies…they can go downhill very quickly with no treatment. Well wishes to you and your bunny!

please, take lil bunny to the vet.
She is so territorial likely because she is unspayed. Females and males unfixed are huge balls of hormones.

Diarrhea in a babt rabbit is dangerous, but I suspect she is suffering from cecal dybosis.

I recommend you read this article:

                  http://www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html

It certainly could be health problems but it may also be diet related.  The article will give you all the information you need.  A trip to the vet to check teeth, for a URI, etc…would be a good idea.

When i had my first bunny, Lash, she would sometimes get diarrhea. I think it was from the Houserabbit Society Handbook, I got the tip to leave out a whole loaf of french or italian bread until it gets rock-hard, then give it to the bunny to gnaw on. I was requently giving Lash warm tush baths in the bathroom sink, but if this doesn’t seem to be much of an option, try giving your bunny a rock-hard dried out loaf of plain bread in a clean area. It helped a lot to normalize Lash’s stools when she had diarrhea, and quickly. She lived to be 7 and a half years old before she passed from an accidental severed vein during surgery for a tumor and died from blood loss. The dried bread is safe to feed, but it has to be rock-hard completely dried out. They enjoy gnawing on the bread too.

Get your rabbit to the vet as soon as you can. Diarrhea can be serious.
The times my rabbits have had diarrhea, I used the water / salt recipe on http://www.thenaturetrail.com/Holland-Lops-and-Diarrhea.htm and had planned to see the vet the next day (their separate incidents all occurred in the evening when the vet was closed). After using the mixture the rabbits became more alert and had firm poops by the next morning.

It sounds more like cecals than diarrhea to me – is it really runny, or soft like cecals? Otto gets poopy butt any time he eats something unusual and ends up smearing it all over and getting it stuck to his bum. It could be worth a trip to the vet if it continues and eating a lot of hay doesn’t clear it up.

If it’s actual diarrhea and not cecals, then she needs to see a vet right away.
