I’ve noticed a lot of bun owners talk about how their buns give them kisses and in the year and a half that I’ve had Smokey, she’s never given kisses. She’ll lay next to me after awhile of hopping around, and will get excited to see me if I come near her cage, but she’s never given me kisses or anything like that.

Does anyone else’s bun(s) not give kisses? I feel like I’m not doing something right, but even my boyfriend says I treat her like she’s my own kid, so it’s not like she’s not getting enough love/attention on my part ;/

How does she feel about being touched/petted? Maybe you can trick her into “grooming” you with a bit of banana on your hand, as per the bonding trick?

Some rabbits might just be like that.

My Tank doesn’t ever approach me at all really, and if he does, it’s only for thirty seconds tops. I can pick him up and he doesn’t mind, but he doesn’t ever cuddle or come to me expecting love, I always have to go to him. He certainly has never kissed me or done anything even close.

            It doesn’t bother me, though.

It’s actually not very common for rabbits to be lickers. One of my rabbits has practically licked since the day I got him. My other rabbit loves snuggling and being held, but she’s never given me more than a few licks, and she especially won’t lick a human’s bare skin.

If you really want to feel a bunny lick you, try smearing some banana on your hand.

Monkey has never ever given kisses int he almost 2 years I have had her. Moose will sometime slick clothing, but never skin.

                  All bunbuns are different hehe.

I just ended up with a face kissing rabbit. She loves to kiss my lips, and loves to kiss my boyfriend’s forehead.

She also indirectly kisses by grooming my clothes and bag.

It looks like you and your bunny are kissing in your profile pic!
Mr. Bun-Bun likes to cuddle and smoosh his face against mine, so I count that as kissing, more or less. We put our cheeks next to each other, I guess he’s bonded to me because he’s a single bun too.
How often do you really want an animal who eats his own poop licking your lips? LOL

Hannah has never given us a kiss and I don’t think she ever will. She loves affection from us, but just isn’t about to lick our noses! Haha.

Otto gives kisses sometimes. He’s pretty free with them for my husband, but I can only have kisses if I bribe him with food first.

So don’t worry about your bun! I would say not giving kisses is more normal than the other way around.

No kisses here and it makes me sad
Our nightly ritual is for me to put her papaya pills in my lips and she jumps up onto my chest and takes them gently from me – it’s kinda like kissing. Kinda… nah.

Oh Smokey loves attention. She loves being hugged and cuddled. If we’re on the couch, she’ll jump up onto the couch and them jump onto your chest to cuddle with you.

I just didn’t know if anyone else had non-kissing buns. I don’t mind as long as I’m not alone haha

Not even banana. She’ll give my SO kisses though :[

Fiver will kiss/wash EVERY plushie on my bed, but I have yet to get a kissy from him directly to me. But since he looks right at me the whole time he’s doing this, that tells me he really IS thinking of me while he does this. That’s their indirect way.

I had never gotten a lick from Mimzy until I had to rush him back to the vet after a particularly nasty tooth trim where he’d developed breathing problems. We were almost at the office, and I’d had my hands int he carrier the whole time, petting him and making sure he was still breathing…suddenly I feel a bunch of licks on the palm of my hand under his chin! I was shocked and happy as all get out, but it was an awful lot of stress to go through for a kiss. ^_^

Pip doesn’t kiss at all. She is a biter. You don’t put anything you value close to that mouth of hers! 0_o

I make up for it with Jenna…there isn’t one night I can get away without having my kneecaps thoroughly washed. ^_^

Like others have said, some are kissers/lickers and some aren’t.

Eddie was a little attention wh*re and gave kisses to EVERYTHING and almost anyone. LOL But I think a lot of his personality might have been due to his breed. ??? Mini lops were bred to be friendly, outgoing, etc. I guess. Lolli has really only given me kisses once on her own. When I came back from my surgery, I held her and she gave me 2 little licks. Then she was done with the touching and holding. It was seriously like she was like “fiiiinnnnne, i’ll give you 2 kisses. there. I’m DONE!” lol All the other times she’s licked me has been because I’ve hit her auto lick response spots.

Yeah I mean, it’s not like she’s unfriendly, as I’ve posted before. I’ve also mentioned previously in my time here that she is a preschool class pet wit 5 year olds and she loves them. She sits in their laps and does binkies for them and everything. So I guess she’s just not a kisser haha

Dutchess and I sort of do a mutual grooming, where I put my head down and she licks my face, and then I in turn groom/massage her, or vice versa. Maybe if you give a really good face grooming and then put your head on the floor next to her face she might think you’re asking for a grooming.

If you see my thread on Blu’s behavior you’ll see how different mine are…

Oreo will lick me for everything that Blu will try to nip me for or run away from me… It’s mostly petting/grooming related..when I’m done petting Oreo she’ll lick my hands/face/pants/whatever is there lol, and then stick her head back under the hand she just licked begging for more pets..haha. She’ll lick my husband a lot too. It’s cute.

On the other hand I’m lucky if Blu sits still for me to even pet his head for a few seconds…it took months before he even enjoyed being pet at all.

All bunnies are different…so don’t think you’re doing anything wrong!

Thanks to his recent illness and subsequent vet visit, I think we’d had a breakthrough with Fiver. I’ve been holding him on my chest after he gets his medicine and in the last few days he’s reached out his little face and groomed where he can find bare skin! 0_o This from the bun that wouldn’t let me even touch him if he could help it when I first got him 3-4 years ago.
He tried to hide from his dose last night by burrowing into my stomach. Like a little kid who’s got his head under the bed and saying, “I can’t see you, you can’t see me,” over and over again. lolz
Weird. Any of my bunnies that have given me kisses, they have always either been or currently are ill with something or other. The rest of the time it’s “Eh, you don’t need it, Mom.” x_x

Yeah Smokey loves being pet and will often put her head down for me to pet her. She loves being held and snuggling against my chest. I’ve just noticed she never gives kisses or tooth purrs. She of course grooms her plush bunny and her fleece bed.
