Thought you’d like to meet my new charge. : ) He’s a teeny bun that I’m looking after to see if we can get him to a better weight. I posted in the Rescue forum about a feral rabbit population we have here…well he is one of these rabbits. The park actually think there were some other young rabbits dumped in with the feral ones and were worried they’d be attacked by the group. This is one they managed to capture. Not knowing what to do with him, they took him to the local pet shop.
Fortunately, Binky Bunny member Kafrn buys supplies there and came across him the next day. She expressed her concerns about his age & the owners said she could take him to look after him if she wanted. Having her own crew, she wasn’t in a position to do this but it only took a little time for me to raise my hand. The timing has actually worked out well and I had a vet appt today for my pair and they are going to look him over also.
It nearly didn’t happen… Kafrn had discovered the pet shop had sold him and so he was on hold for someone. The customer was to pick him up the next morning but she changed her mind. So Kafrn & I were able step back in. I picked him up on closing yesterday afternoon. The pet shop thinks he’s about 4 weeks old. Also were referring to bun as a girl but I’m almost certain it’s a boy.
He’s not named officially. I had the name Grace picked for a girl and it seemed a good fit. Now I think it’s a male I haven’t settled on a name. I’ve been considering Tim Tim. Not sure why, but he is similar colouring to Timothy, a special needs bun who I love that was introduced on BB. Thought that Timothy is big and this little bun is a mere 400grams I think.
He has a tiny, pointy face and is chinchilla coloured I believe. His face reminds me of the Australian Bilby and Wallabies a little. He looks like one of our marsupials.

It would be freaky if you named him Tiny Tim, and then he turned out to be Andre the Giant! 0_oA lucky bun he is in any case! ^_^ Congratulations!

He gives little tooth purrs after I give the milk and head pats. It’s beyond adorable.

I’m thinking of him as my teacher. Whether I can do this, care for one this young and be able to find him a home. It will let me know what challenges I might face if I do anything like this in my future. -
First I have to get out a good “EEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeee” Oh my God that is cute!!! Those pics are so sweet! His ears look like they are totally overpowering him! Love his plushie bunny. Thank you for helping him! I was hoping to see pics when I heard about the story on Kafrn’s Facebook. He really looks like the type of wild baby bunnies that we have around here.
Oh, and my prediction: He won’t be going anywheres!

I just saw a bunny flop! I don’t think I can handle this!!!
I popped in to try out some of the names on him and he flopped!
edit to add: It looks like Tim-Tim is to be his name. I wasn’t set on it but have just seen a flop then a little binky after saying the name along with some others. He’s probably just reacting to the attention or my voice but I’m I’m taking it as a sign he likes it.
My mind went to several cute possibilities thanks to inspiration from your posts. Almond, Almondo, Dune, Roomous (ie.Kangaroo mouse). Lizzie, how do I even pronounce Muad’Dib? Then I thought Roobun (like Reuben) which would be super cute but it doesn’t fit him. Bilbun (i.e. Bilby bunny), Wally B Fursday…
Tim-Tim is a bit plain in comparison but I suppose I had as a tentative name for a day and now it’s stuck. Kafrn is calling him Thursday.
Kafrn, all my pics of him are filed in a folder named Thursday and the pic referenced in some abbreviation of Thursday. heh heh
I will take more picture. I need to build him a smaller, simpler cage today. He’s currently got 4×2 ft and he’s only 5 or 6 inched long!!

Isn’t there an Australian cookie filled with sweet and gooey caramel covered in chocolate called a Tim-Tam? I just saw them at my store the other day.
lolz…When “Tiny Tim” is taking up half the couch, she’ll be rethinking that name, Pam.

The name…I still wobbled on it a bit but then this morning it morphed into TimTimTim. He may get a different name in his lifetime…
I am being cautious in thinking too much about the future regarding him. I just want him to survive. They are susceptible to a few things this young. But you may cajole all you like about him staying. I know I’ve done my far share of that to other members.
Will be putting up a ton of pics today. In the mean time I’ve added some random pictures. lol
1) TimTam biscuit 2) Man demonstrating TimTam Slam aka TimTam shotgun. You use the biscuit like a straw, suck up hot coffee then throw it all into your mouth before it melts. The mouth melts the outer chocolate and it all turns to a mush. Disgusting yet so yum. Try it and report back.
When I was looking up marsupials I came across the Viscacha. Looks like Rabbit+ Squirrel+ ? Wow!

Suddenly I’ve got that old Chinese rhyme in my head, “Tikki-tikki Timbo, No Se Rimbo…” Or rather is was Tembo, not Timbo, but… It was in that story about the boy with the super long name who falls down a well and his brothers are having to repeat his whole name to everyone they tell about the accident so it takes forever for help to arrive. Does anyone remember that?
Funny, our Tim-Tams have a caramel version. (I think Pepperidge Farms makes them) Definitely going to have to get some more and try the coffee trick. Although I may be extremely wired by the time I post about it. ^_^ It looks like a skill that takes some practice to acquire.
I think I posted about the vizcacha too awhile back…I found them while googling stuff about the Chilean miners. I guess they are an endangered species there.
When you have time, Google the sumatra and thai rabbits that have the striped bodies like chipmunks…they are the coolest looking critters! ^_^lolz….Nice nasal shot, Jersey! ^_^ And Rumball…having a ‘rum go’ at the grass! xD I just wuvs dat wabbit!

Kafrn, you have not done tim tam shotgun before?
But it’s an Australian tradition!
Ok, specific instructions according to me:
1) make a cup of coffee
2) open timtams and eat 3 or 4 immediately. (That is optional)
3) get biscuit and nibble off one corner then the corner diagonally opposite that one.
4) Place nibbled corner into cup off coffee. Not too far
5) Place mouth on other nibbled corner and draw coffee up through the biscuit *
6) As soon as the coffee gets to your mouth, throw the whole biscuit into your mouth. Be quick otherwise it will collapse in your hand or into your coffee.
7) Enjoy the implosion.
8) Repeat steps 3-7 with the remainder of the packet.
* For a true challenge, do this hands-free from step 5. Throwing your head back to get the biscuit into mouth.

lolz…Well that was a bit of luck then.
Timbo would be a great name, in my never-to-be-humble opinion. Brown lips is something I haven’t seen yet. I get a lot of green, due to veggie consumption, occasional orange with carrots…but no brown…
Aaand, I can hear Mimzy sneezing again…so I get bogey covered lips a bit too. 0_oI have to say, our Tim Tam version is very dry and sometimes hard to bite, but the coffee shot should take care of that.

I think the name Timbo is great for the little guy! I remember being read the story in elementary school and being super confused because my teachers kept saying that the Tikki Tikki Timbo (…) story/name was Chinese, while it in no way resembled any Chinese I’d ever heard, lol. Makes a great bun name though
