My surgery is on the 9th and my 1st therapy appointment is on the 11th.  They certainly don’t waste any time.  Then my follow up is at 12 weeks where they let me know if I can resume everday tasks.  I’m getting a new ACL, a screw in my shin and my meniscus repaired.  I’m not so overwhemeld and worried about it anymore but I’m still scared to death.  I’ve spent the last week organizing cabinets and closet, moving furniture so I can move around with crutches and trying to be as prepared as I can.

I’m going to be on crutches for 6-8 weeks.  So I crocheted myself a bag that I can carry covered dishes in so I can still feed myself and my girls.  I think we should take out stock in juiceboxes!  That’s all they’re going to drink for a while.  LOL  I also crocheted and smaller square bag that I can tie onto my crutches so I can take my wallet, keys and phone out with me.  It’s like a little crutch tote.  I’ll post pictures of that later.

For the first week I’m going to be really sore and probably won’t feel like reading, playing games or crocheting.  It’s hard for me to concentrate when I hurt.  Especially with the pain killers I’ll be on.  Does anyone have and good movie suggestions?

Here’s a picture of the bag I made.  It’s 100% cotton so it can be washed easily.

Hi   I just had the miniscus fixed in my knee .   Oct actually.   I can go up n down stairs good now.   Unless I run into something and hit my knee then I have to take it easy again.   Plus no heels not even 1 inch.   I pay for it.  Of course that was after I banged my knee too.

You will be ok.   I dnt’ know about the screw in the shin but the miniscus part gets good fairly quick.  I am not running marathons on it that will be a long while in coming.   Thats ok I dont run anyways  due to my back  lol          They told me to pedal without tension like on an exercise bike.  I have a pedal piece in the living room I only used a few times since the surgery.  It is under the table.  OUtta site outta mind in this case.

I had put cold pack oh the knee the first few days after surgery.  It was more sore than painful as in back surgery painful.  Nothing even close.

Good movies.  I dont’ know what kind you like.

You are quite creative with your crochet there.   What great ideas you have.  Thats wonderful

Now next wednesday I am having shoulder surgery torn ohhh dang  whats the word    ah rotator cuff.  A small tear.  It is going to be like the artheroscopy on the knee.  I can move it after surgery etc.  I am not waiting like I did on the knee.  It hasn’t healed in  6 months it isnt’ gona so surgery here I come.

Thinking of you Amy! All the best with your surgery. I hope you recover as well as bunnytowne did with her knee surgery.

btw, I like this bag!  In my fave colour too! I currently have a knitted style bag but it’s man-made materials. I’d prefer natural.  I might have to put in an order.

Thanks! The surgery went well. I’m not in a lot of pain right now because my never block still hasn’t worn off.
I’ll have to check into that movie Brittany.
Jersry, I should have plenty of time to crochet. Maybe I’ll make a few different one.

those nerve blocks are something   lol.   The one on my shoulder wore off yesterday.

Glad you are doing good.   May the pain be easily bearable.     Did your Dr. tell you to take pain pill the minute the block starts to wear off?    Thats the best way hit it b4 it hurts real bad  otherwise will hurt real bad for a longer period of time.

Hi Bunnytowne. Glad to hear everything went well for you too!
My nerve block still isn’t worn off. I’m not as numb but I still can’t lift my leg off the couch unless I pick it up with my hands. lol They started me on pain meds before I left the hospital. I’ve been throwing up from them today. Now I’m waiting to hear back from a nurse to see if they can give me anything for my stomach. I’m only taking half a pill at a time and I’m still sick. BLAH
I also have a CPM machine that I have to use for a minimum of 3 hours a day. It bends and straightens my leg for me. My girls just got home a few hours ago. I sure did miss them!
