        Hi everyone!
I am the proud mommy of 2 Holland Lops and 2 Persian cats. I love my little family but wish they got along better. When I got my bunnies, I was worried that the cats wouldn't be nice to them, but boy was I wrong! The bunnies are the bullies!
Anytime my buns see the cats walking around, they start chasing them. My girl bunny even growls at times. I know the cats don't like it because they've pretty much learned to live on the furniture. All of my animals are spayed/neutered so I don't think it's hormones. Has anyone else had this problem and fixed it?

This is common of rabbits. It is a territorial behavior. You should have success and rid this behavior by introducing the cats and bunies in a neutral room to each other where they have not been before. This may take a few meetings and days of living together. Rabbits do not tolerate invasions by other pets into their turf without a chase.

I can relate…I have 3 bunnies and 3 cats. My cats pretty much stay out of the living room during bunny playtime. For the most part, the buns ignore the cats but every once in a while, Olivia and Stormy will charge them and try to bite. Stormy likes to go after their tails. They seem to be jealous when I give the cats attention. But I don’t worry about it too much because the bunnies are only allowed free roam in the living room at certain times of the day and the cats can either stay away or stay up high during bunny time. For the most part though, it’s just bunnies and cats ignoring each other. I had one cat who would stand up to the bunnies and wack them with her paw when they got out of line but Stormy even kicked her out of the living room at times. She died recently and now the bunnies are in charge. Sorry I don’t have any advice I just wanted to share my similar experiences.

I have two rabbits and two cats as well and the rabbits are definitely in charge.  My femal rabbit (who dominates the male rabbit) is actually somewhat nice to the cats.  She will charge the cats, but only if they run while she is trying to sniff them out.  My male rabbit (who is totally submissive to my female) does not seem to tolerate the cats at all.  As soon as he realizes one is in his territory (the cats are curious so they try to go in there whenever they get a chance) he will charge at them and chase them out.  The cats know where to go to get away and they only interact when they are supervised.  I’ve been trying several months for them to get along, but the cats keep getting put in their place.

Thanks everyone for your replies! It’s nice to know I’m not the only person with this problem. This past week I did take the cats and the bunnies up to my parents bathroom, where none of them had ever been before. I tried to introduce them in a neutral territory hoping the bunnies would calm their aggression, but unfortunately it didn’t work.   Tink, my girl bunny, immediately started chasing the cats and growling.

Again, I’m very grateful for the feedback, but I would love to hear from someone that FIXED the problem. There must be someone in the world that figured out how to have bunnies and cats coexist peacefully!
