I just got an automated phonecall from my grocery store saying that they were recalling some lettuce etc. because of possible listeria contamination.  The lettuces were dated 1/15 so I have NO clue if I purchased them!!!

Do I need to worry about listeria w/Merry?

I just go by the philosophy of better safe than sorry. It’s a few wasted dollars, and the grocery store took the trouble to warn you. What I find odd is how they knew to phone you, unless it’s an automated call to every home in your entire town? If it’s legit, I’d say dump the lettuce and buy a new one.

the lettuce, if I bought that batch, has been well gone since the 15th… I’m a firm believer in eating things before the best by date.

They keep track of purchases so they know that I bought that brand -but probably don’t save the lot numbers, etc.

So what do I do? Bring her to the vet & say that she may have eaten listeria laden lettuce? (say that three times fast lol)

Maybe call the vet first, to see what the symptoms would be and ask if you should bring her in. That way you can save a vet visit if it isn’t necessary
