  My dad and I moved into an apartment this past Sunday.
  
  Chacha has been DISAPPROVING BIG TIME. She is grunting (a little), thumping plenty, and footflicking me Is this because she is not familiar with her surroundings?
  
  She has her own ‘area’ which is pretty spacious, 10 foot by 5 foot. My dad and I are still unpacking, and the TV isn’t on a stand yet. I plan to rabbit proof the area around the tv, so she can wonder the living/dining area.
  
  Is this behavior normal? I think she wants her living room at the old house.. no can do

  She probably doesn’t like all the new smells and sounds. Just give her some extra toys and attention. I’m sure she’ll settle in soon.

  I’ve caught her chewing the carpet.. it is different carpet from the previous house :-/ I have some stinky perfume to put on the spot she is fixated on.. she usually footflicks and hops away from it. My dad and I aren’t getting our deposit back when we move out.. so he isn’t concerned about her being bad.. (????). but still, I am trying to prevent her from being naughty bun bun. I don’t want her picking up bad habits

  the perfume never deterred my rabbits, neither did bitter apple.

  The house I used to live in had base boards and she never chewed them. I’ve noticed chacha take a bite out of it last night (I’m all done moving into the apartment).. and it ended with me going “NO!” really loudly. It scared her.
  
  She doesn’t like the smell of perfume. It makes her turn and footflick away from it.
  
  I’m going to the store soon. I will see if I can pick up some nic grids to block off the baseboards.

  She’s probably on sensory overload and showing a bit of fear. Sticking to the routines you had at the old place should help her settle. It’s something familiar to her. Have you given her her hidey boxes, mazes etc? Probably a silly question…I bet you set ChaCha’s digs up first. :p

  Is she completely free range? I have moved many times, mostly with Spockie. I usually let him take a tour of the new place (our apartment in Lenox, MA, was a blast for him because we went from hardwood floors to wall to wall carpet and he did 500s and binkies in a huge space the first night while I slept on a sleeping bag.)
  
  But moving in day, and often for several days, I would keep him confined to his cage, in one room only that stayed closed, and made sure his routines were exactly the same as much as possible. Places his dishes in the same placement, same foods, same treats at the same times. Just really stuck to any routine we had and only let him out about twice a day to explore a bit of the new place at a time. If he was comfortable quickly, it didn’t last long. But where she is acting unhappy, it might be more helpful to let her settle in a comfort zone before being bombarded with so many new smells, sights and changes. Also, it will help a lot when you are completely unpacked. You need to bunny proof again, and your stuff will also smell familiar, but it has to be out of the boxes and covers. A familiar blanket spread over the new rug might smell good to her and be relaxing. And at risk, too, of course.

  My dad unpacked some boxes this morning, and the living room is 90% box free.
  
  RabbitPam, she is not range free. She has the sunroom, which she is in during the day. She is in her x-pen in the sunroom. I plan to make her her own 3 story ‘apartment’ in February. When I let her out, I kept her confined to the sunroom so she could get used to the room. Her thumps have become less and less. She seemed very happy when I bought her big BB toys. When I let her out of the sunroom, she has the living and dining room area to roam.
  
  Petzy, she is never satisfied She always wants more and more pets Now that my dad cleared off her favorite living room chair, she can now sit on it and give me stink eye from it
  
  I let her play in a big pink flannel blanket when I was living at the house. I will put it down when she comes out tonight
  
  The flooring at the apartment is quite different. It feels like a shag rug, or like loose rug. When Chacha runs, it sounds like she is ripping out the carpet, but she really isn’t. So I am going to have to examine her nails more often. I don’t want a ripped nail :-/ ..
  
  A friend of mine gave me a bottle of bitter apple, and Chacha doesn’t like it. She does not like the perfume either. It needs to be reapplied every 2 weeks, but she stays out of the area that stinks, lol.

  aww chacha, sounds like my princess nikka hahaha. when I moved in july they also seemed to have trouble readjusting to the house, and to this day nikka acts more bratty than she did at my old house. I’ve read that bunnies are not too good at adapting to new environments, that some get mad even when you change around minor things in their habitat. so she’s probably just getting settled in. I guess you could try to just set things up as close to how they were at the old place! good luck!
